Switching from Postgraduate Diploma to ECE Diploma Before Program Start – PGWP Concerns

Hello everyone,
I’m a bachelor’s degree holder currently in Canada, waiting for my postgraduate IT diploma (2 years) to start at a DLI. Before my semester begins, I am considering switching to a diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE) at the same DLI. I have experience in both fields, which is why I’m exploring this option.
My questions are:

• Is it possible to switch programs before the semester starts at the same DLI?
• If I switch from a postgraduate diploma in IT to a diploma in a completely different field (ECE), will it affect my PGWP eligibility in the future?
• Could this create any problems with IRCC later on when I apply for the PGWP or permanent residency?

I would really appreciate any insights or experiences from people who have switched programs in Canada or dealt with PGWP or any eligibility issues.

Since both IT and ECE programs at your DLI are PGWP-eligible, switching programs is safe, and you will not lose PGWP eligibility.

You need to get PAL and apply for a new SP or amend the current one depending on how much has been processed.
