Yeah, exactly. The new system that shows how many people are ahead and how many months are left isn’t manually updated by IRCC officers. It’s generated through an AI based prediction model that estimates progress using past approval data and average timelines.

For example, if most applications from early 2023 took around 28–30 months to finish, the system predicts similar wait times for newer ones. It just divides total applicants by average monthly approvals to give you a rough idea of where you stand. But it doesn’t reflect real-time updates from IRCC’s internal system or consider background, security, or dependent factors.

That’s why sometimes the numbers look off. Someone from May 2023 might see a longer wait than someone from February, even though their files could both be close to completion depending on their category or stage.

So it’s more like an automated estimate to help applicants gauge the queue, not an official tracker managed by officers.

Because no where is mentioning pr application. Choice is going on on sequence: application type(refugee) -> refugee program (protected person). No where mentioned pr. It’s confusing.

Does anyone has GCMS notes and says montreal second office and I know it doesn’t impact because Montreal office process final decision for protected person a lot more. Just asking.

The new time line is system generated and based on math not the actual scenario. Since March 2023 applicant are in finish line so we can expect in next two months April and May will be processed and early of next year they may start processing of June file. Due to extensive security check for some African and middle eastern countries processing for that file may delayed but in general we can expect with in 3 years processing will be completed for 2023 application.

My question is this: I have a RTDthat is not valid — can I re-enter Canada with it, or is there any way for me to return? I just want to be able to get back to Canada.

I dont think the processing timeline is correct. Its showing that January applicants still have 5-6 months left while most of them have already received their ecoprs and PR cards?

She’s an immigration lawyer, and she told me IRCC follows the published timelines. Also, not everyone from January and February has received PR yet—based on the published data, about 900 January and 1,100 February applicants are still waiting. By my reading, that suggests roughly half (or a bit more) have been processed so far, given there were about 2,000–3,000 applicants per month for 2023.


Either way, our situation is difficult. Let’s organize and ask for help—contact MPs, submit a petition, and request that IRCC increase the quota.

Depends on what kind of immigration lawyer u met, some of them I know they focus on some stream. And ignore others stream. Second Somme of them are very discouraging rather then working on particular case example every case is different and she is right according to current information which is very basic knowledge, January and February are still waiting because their files are complicated like security is still pending u know some countries like example Iran applicants having issues even express entry too taking long for
Them. Another if ur things got done u shouldn’t be waiting. Lawyers need to work out a bit narrow think that what makes you wait rather then giving u basic information and letting you go. But thanks for the info
