PR CARD RENEWAL APPLICATIONS JULY 2025

submitted my wife pr renewal on 5th july received nothing so far. the portal only shows submitted. how to get updates. do we get acknowledgment receipt email. its been 3 months since we heard nothing any expert opinion or someone wirh same timeline any advise i should be worried about something

Update on my renewal application - got the "please pick up the card in person and bring all your documents" letter yesterday. This was fully expected.

Applied on July 17, 2025.
"updatedAt" on August 18, 2025.
Letter on September 23, 2025.

It was known to be a complex application - all days for RO are via 28(2)(a)(ii) "outside Canada accompanying a Canadian citizen who is their spouse" and I don't currently physically reside in Canada. So overall this is quick compared to what I've seen from other complex cases.

Do they give a specific date when you need to pick it up or any idea of how soon?

The letter set an appointment on October 8, but also said I have 180 days to pick it up. My lawyer requested it be transferred to another office due to some of my personal circumstances and I'm told they agreed, so I expect to get a new date soon.

PR Card successfully renewed (July 2025 application) for sponsored parents on H&C grounds / not meeting RO.

P.S. the portal shows no update other than Aug 21 photo resubmission request / and that the photos were submitted.

Happy to inform that, yesterday (what a wonderful Diwali Gift) we received renewed PR cards for my parents in mail. Thank you CanadaPost for the resumption of services.

Original Landing : August 30, 2020
PR Cards Valid Until : August 30, 2025.
RO within the PR Card validity timeframe : less than 365 days (R.O not met).

Applied online for PR Renewal : July 21, 2025 (H&C grounds, complete with a 5 page letter & supporting documentation*)
Online request to resubmit photos in high resolution : August 21, 2025
New PR Cards Issued on : October 02, 2025

This is the first time I've read anyone experiencing multiple dates for that section.

I did not experience this. The issue date on my new card even states July 30, 2025.

Hi all,

Been waiting for my PR card renewal since July 21, 2025 and haven't received any updates yet. I had applied for an early renewal and my PR is expiring in march 2026.

The status on the PR portal just says SUBMITTED. but I am now panicking because I was able to link my PR card to the IRCC website and under document status it says "Your document is invalid." since Aug 23, 2025. However, the document number they mentioned is not my PR card or UCI number. Has anyone experienced this before? I am currently out of Canada and I am afraid that I will not be able to travel back because my current PR card is invalid now. What should I do?

I guess I should update - after the Canada Post strike, IRCC did sent my card to another office for pickup. I got a second letter (via email) with date and time for pickup. I showed up at the listed time, make sure to have a printed copy of the letter and the required items. They wanted to see my passports and my wife's passports for the 5-year period in question and proof we lived together. The officer asked for my expired card, and was surprised it was the old 2002 version. She then gave me my new card. Whole process took less than 10 minutes after I was called to the window.

My application was somewhat non-routine because:
1) I had zero days of physical presence in Canada. I live with my Canadian-citizen wife in the US, so got credit for RO days via that path instead.
2) I don't have a residential address in Canada, so my lawyer used her office address in Canada as the address on the application. This triggered the "pickup at office" rule. Unfortunately the IRCC office near my lawyer is across the country in Quebec, while I leave neat BC so my lawyer requested they transfer the file to Vancouver. IRCC agreed, but that slowed things down again.
