NOC Code Selection: Degree in Electronics but Experience in Software Development

Hi everyone,
I need some clarification regarding NOC code selection. I have a 4-year bachelor’s degree in BS Electronics, but for the past 5 years, I have been working as a Software Developer. Since my degree and job are in different fields, I am confused about which NOC code I should select for immigration purposes — should it be based on my degree or my actual job experience?


Would really appreciate guidance from anyone who has faced a similar situation.

Your job/work experience, bank statements and paystubs prove you did the job.

My CRS is 370 without adding Nomination from a province and trying to apply for nominations from PNP.

And read also a lead statement, it's no less important than duties. There are a couple of similar NOCs but they are different. And check PNPs you are interested in, what are the specific NOCs they are looking for.

My CRS is 370 without adding Nomination from a province and trying to apply for nominations from PNP.

PNP is not an option without a job offer and those usually are not through Express Entry streams so will not add points to your CRS score. IT job offers will be hard to find unless your current employer has an office in Canada for a transfer. This isn't PR but a temporary work permit. May still not be invited.
