Dears

I urgently need your help. I received my eCoPR on August 26, 2025, and traveled to the US last Friday for the long weekend using my Refugee Travel Document. However, when attempting to return to Canada, United Airlines staff at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) informed me that I required a Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD) and refused boarding. I am currently stuck at the airport.

Please advise on the immediate steps I should take to resolve this issue and return to Canada. Any guidance or assistance would be greatly appreciated. As far as I know, I don't need PRTD since I have a refugee travel document and eCoPR.
I came back from us with flair airline without pr just RTD , I didn't have problem.

Why does IRCC make people wait so long after giving them protection status?

The long delays are destroying people’s mental health. Depression, anxiety, and stress are becoming normal for those stuck in this endless process.

If someone has already been granted protection status, why does it still take so many years for them to get PR?

Today at the clinic, I met a man who has been in Canada for 6 years. He applied for PR 3 years ago, and he’s still waiting. His wife and kids are back home, and the separation is taking a huge toll on him. He came to the walk-in clinic just to get a doctor’s note to submit to IRCC in hopes of expediting his case, because he’s struggling with depression.

It feels unfair and inhumane. People who are already recognized as needing protection should not be left in limbo for half a decade or more. The wait destroys families, careers, and mental health.

Has anyone else here been through the same kind of wait? Did you try to expedite your PR due to health or family reasons, and did it actually work?

Hi,

Any one know what doesn’t mean receiving a biometric invitation letter for a 2023 pr application.

Thanks
This is my exact situation. I submitted my pr application in April 2023 and did not receive any letter for biometrics since then. I have sent web form upon web form and requested atip gcms notes twice. First one showed my eligibility had not even started (that was last yr) and I am currently awaiting the 2nd gcms note which I requested in July. The only correspondence I have received from them is when they requested more documents earlier this yr which I have since sent. Can someone pls throw some lighting this is at all normal, no biometrics requested since 2023?

If you did biometrics during your claim, you don’t need to do another one.
