I’m currently waiting for my PAL/medical but the processing has been very slow since June. I am having second thoughts on applying for EE. Applied October 2024 but no updates yet after getting AOR. It’s been a frustrating wait so I’m thinking if I should work on my EE and reapply. The ones who got invited in May who are in the same field as I am are on portal 1 now.

Will it be waste of time to apply EE?

Paper-based PR (if you applied through a PNP non-EE stream) tends to be much slower — often 12–24 months processing. Delays after medicals/PAL are unfortunately common.Express Entry (EE) streams — including PNP-EE or CEC/Federal Skilled Worker — usually move much faster. Once you get an ITA, finalization can be 6–8 months on average, sometimes quicker.So, having an EE application in progress (if eligible) is often a faster parallel pathway.

Can you apply for EE while your current PR is processing?
Yes. IRCC allows you to have multiple PR applications in process at the same time. If one is approved, the other will simply be closed/refunded.

• Many applicants do this intentionally to hedge against long delays.

Is it a waste of time?
It depends on:
Your CRS score: If you are competitive in the current EE draws (or PNP-EE), then it’s not a waste — you could end up getting PR much faster.

• Your stream: If you already have a provincial nomination, going through EE with 600 extra points is usually very straightforward and quick.
• Processing reality: Since you applied October 2024 and still only have AOR, you may be looking at many more months of waiting on the paper route. Having an EE file could speed things up dramatically.

Risks/downsides
The extra effort in preparing a new EE profile + application.

• Paying new fees (though the old file will be closed if the EE one finalizes).
• If your CRS is low and you don’t expect an ITA soon, it might not help much.

Does anyone know which application dates are getting AOR right now? I applied under non EE pnp on January 2nd and my open work permit expires September 28, 2025. Worried I will not get AOR in time to apply for BOWP.

Your timeline looks very typical for OINP Non-Express Entry applicants. Since you already passed medicals and your background verification was marked as completed, the main step left is the eligibility review, which often takes the longest in paper-based or non-Express Entry streams. It’s normal for this stage to remain “in progress” for several months before a final decision is issued, especially since processing times for non-Express Entry PR applications can stretch 20–24 months.
The fact that your file has steadily progressed without additional document requests or complications is a good sign. At this point, it’s mainly a matter of waiting for IRCC to finalize your eligibility review and issue the decision. Many people with similar March–April 2024 timelines are likely still waiting too, so you’re not alone in this stage.

Hello everyone. I am wondering how to you meet this requirements using the translation service in your country. In mine, they provide me with a translation, affidavit from the translator, an authorized officer attested that the translator is the person who affixed their signature onto the translation; regarding the requirement of "a certified copy of the original document", they gave the photocopy of version one third of the seal. I am worrying that it would not be sufficient for a certified copied.
"If your documents are not English or French, you must include the English or French translation with a certified copy of the original document, and an affidavit from the person who completed the translation (if the translation is not provided by a member in good standing of a provincial or territorial organization of translators and interpreters in Canada)."

Hi I have a question, I applied through oinp- graduate stream (no job offer), so if I am changing jobs, when should I inform ircc about it? Like does it matter? Do I wait to actually start my new job and then send a webform or do I inform them as soon as I get my job offer letter from the new company and I have given my two weeks st my current one? Context: I got my AOR last month and did my biometrics (applied Nov 2024) and used my salary letter as proof of funds.
