Hi SUV Friends,
Just for your reference only:
  1. Adjusted Immigration Quota: The annual maximum quota for permanent residency under the SUV category has been reduced from 7000 to 3000 in 2025 and from 8000 to 2000 in 2026 and 2027. These adjustments reflect a strategic effort to manage Canada’s immigration intake over the next three years, aligning with broader national goals of fostering integration and addressing housing concerns for incoming residents.
  2. Quota: For example 3000 in 2025 => The 3,000 quota is for the number of principal applicants who are approved for permanent residence. It does not limit the number of family members who may accompany a successful principal applicant.
In essence, the 3,000 quota is a cap on the number of individual entrepreneurs who can be approved for permanent residence through the Start-up Visa Program, but family members can still immigrate with.
As my calculation, if the average PA per project is 3 members this means that IRCC will approve about 3000/3=1000 projects in this year of 2025.
Cheers & Best luck
Hali

The quota is shared by SUV and self employed, not solely for SUV

Thank for your correction.
This means the Quota for SUV is only about 2000 in 2025 and IRCC may approve about 2000/3 ~ 667 projects.

2000/3/3 = 200-300 projects. as there might be multiple applications per projects, just like there are multiple persons in any applications.

Hi,
According to the SUV program, The maximum PAs per project is not more than 5 members. That was why my calculation above which relied on the average No of PA per project is 3 members =>2000/3 ~ 667 projects. I wonder why you said 2000/3/3 = 200-300 projects?

Hi, sorry about the confusion. 3000 is the high end cap of this years federal business PR quota for SUV and self employed class. the target is actually 2000。let's assume they will reach the cap this year, and SUV takes 2/3 of the quota, which comes to the 2000 PR as the target number for total PRs landed in SUV stream in 2025.

So the 2000 is a count of heads, not applications, not projects. every project may have 1 to 5 applications, so 2000/3=667 is the applications quota. every application will have an principle applicant and 0-5 dependents. let's assume the average applicants in an application is also 3. this is where that second calculation comes into play. 667/3 = 222 is the projects number.

2000 is the quota in person, 2000/3 is the applications quota, 2000/3/3 is the projects quota.

Hi
I don't know where did you get the information above.
Here is what I search
The annual quota for permanent residency under the Start-Up Visa (SUV) program in Canada, which is currently capped at 2,000-3,000 visas per year, is generally calculated based on the number of principal applicants. This means each designated organization can only submit a limited number of SUV applications for permanent residence, and the quota doesn't account for additional family members who might be included in the same application.

it does include everyone in the application. if not, where will the dependents number go? they are not sponsored. there is no category for dependents. Family class is for sponsorship application, not dependents.

look deeper and at the official sources. and the 2000-3000 is actually 1200 - 3000, for both SUV and self employed. Check this. trust IRCC, not any other sources. 2025 quota is here look at the federal business category and the footnote.

and the quota is not for visas, they are for PRs. that is the moment when you get your CoPR signed at the border or received eCoPR in your portal account.

Hi SUV Experts,
I got the 2nd Medical Request and submitted to the IRCC since Dec 2024.
I checked my online status and I didn't see the update status like "Medical result has been received" so I asked the MP office for help. As a result, I have just got the feedback from the MP in which IRCC said "We are reviewing the results of your medical exam."
On the other hand, I have asked the local Immigration Medical Examination and they said "The medical test result of mine was submitted successfully as soon as I finished the test as well as there is no any requests for additional tests from IRCC for my case".
As I know, "IRCC typically reviews medical exam results for Canadian immigration within 30 days of the date the exam was booked"
Therefore, I am very confused and wonder why I submitted my medical 5 months ago....why they are still reviewing without any updates.
Please kindly advise
Many thanks
Hali

Hello Hali

If you order GCMS it will be shown there as your medical passed, usually the MP office will just call the agent and get you this answer, the agents will have limited access

In my case I had my re medical done in January 2025, when I check online, it do not say medical recieved, but it reflects in my GCMS notes as passed

I strongly feel that’s your case too

Hi Aleem,
That is a very helpful information from your side & it makes me feel better! Thank you very much.
Basing on your advice, I have asked my representative to order the GCMS note today.
By the way, As I see that "The standard processing time for a GCMS note request from IRCC is typically 20 to 30 days". May I know how long it took you to have your GCMS from the date of order?
Looking forward to your information
Thanks
Hali

Dear members,

Has anyone heard of any recent decisions made by IRCC in the past 6 months? I’ve been following updates but haven’t come across any clear news or movement. Would appreciate any insights or experiences you can share.

Thank you!

Hello,

I am no Expert, but here is my view of your issue. Most probably you are from non priority DO, for now IRCC is not processing or making any movements for non priority applications. Once they are done with priority DO applicants they will begin reviewing your case.

Same thoughts going through my mind...I have not seen any single approval in 2025 so far. May be those who are getting COPR are on some other forums :)

Wow...it was only 18-20 days ..It was so fast that I couldn't imagine...My last request in Mar 2024 it took 3 months. May I know when you ordered it? By the way, Whether you ordered only for you (PA) or for your whole family (dependents) ?
Anyhow, many thanks for your share ...it is always helpful and makes me feel better and happier.
Wish all of the members in this forum will get the golden email soonest
Cheers
