Hi do they need letter for housewife also??? Do we have to upload also?? Please let me know..

Yes, BLS wants a self declaration from anyone who are not employed. I was surprised by this requirement
If the adult is a student, they need a copy of the student ID.
FYI - When i submitted my OCI in BLS Mississauga, they showed a customized checklist sheet which need to be submitted.
If you have any OCI holders in your family, get those copies as well.
Plus the copy of this checklist sheet - it did not make sense to me at all. It is basically an instruction sheet but they just need to make money.

To upload, you can do that to any of the sections and does not need to a relevant. you can combine multiple documents together under a section as long as the size is less than 1 MB.

When BLS says OCI process takes 6-8 weeks, is that from the time of Acknowledgement or is it from the time of submission?

Submission at BLS...
But processing time varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Toronto was faster in comparison to Ottawa and Vancouver

Both my adult and minor OCI applications were submitted as walk-ins at BLS Toronto on April 24, 2025. The adult application was acknowledged on May 7, 2025. However, there is still no record found on the OCI website.

Seems rather strange to me as well.. I understand the each OCI application is treated independently of each other but if you are submitting applications of parents and minor it should be understand they usually should be processed together.
Maybe check with BLS if you do not see an update by the end of next week for your minor's application

Just write a simple document that she is unemployed/does not work and is a home maker thats all...

I checked with BLS today, and they informed me that both applications were sent to the consulate on April 25th. The status is currently ‘processing at the consulate,’ as they told me and they don’t have any further updates at this time.

Does anybody know why COPR is needed for OCI application, I mean you cant get citizenship without PR, is COPR is same as the document you get before PR or something else?

BLS ko maangne ke liye koi logic nahin chahiye hota hain Sushant bhai... If they had their way probably they will ask for the birth certificate of an adult applicants parents too...

Does this mean that I need to sign and scan the document and then upload on OCI service portal.

I never had ration card. My question is what should I put in Ration Card No …………………….. ?? Leave it blank? Put NA? or NONE??
I know BLS has different meaning for NA/NONE/BLANK!

I have voter ID and I have surrendered it, I will give my EPIC number for voter ID card.

You don't need to self attest documents you are uploading online. You only have to sign documents which you are sending with your application.

How about asylum seekers, may be its to stop asylum seekers getting oci..and yes the COPR is same document you get to land in Canada when PR is approved

Hi. Even am going to apply with Ottawa BLS. I’ve heard that sometimes the bls staff will check if the person has really surrendered the voter ID, in case if it still shows up, they may reject the application. Did you confirm that your voter ID is removed? Iam waiting myself, as of now status is ‘fvr submitted’ and I can’t submit the application until the voter ID is completely removed.

I came to Canada as as PHD student on Student visa, and then got my PR, so my COPR is my first Student visa or COPR before PR?
