Hi everyone,
I applied for a visitor visa to visit my sister, and unfortunately, my application is still in progress after nearly two years.

I’ve contacted IRCC more than three times via the webform, but I haven’t received any clear update. My sister also contacted IRCC and was informed that my application has passed the Eligibility and Criminality checks, but the Security check is still in progress.

According to the info she received, the Security assessment started in February 2024, but more than a year later, it’s still not completed.

I’m wondering if anyone else is in a similar situation or has experience with long delays due to security checks? Is there anything else I can do besides waiting?

Any advice or shared experiences would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

What country are you applying from and what countries have you lived in. If Canada doesn’t receive immigration and security information from the country then it will stay in security assessment indefinitely.

HI, did you get an update? Applied in Nov 2024. Reached out to MP's office and got to know that eligibility and background check completed. Haven't heard anything since then.

When were background checks completed? There js a backlog for processing in India but if it has been over a month since then and no red flags with the profile would contact MP after the election.

So the tracker says that Backgroud verification is in progress and the MP's team said that it is completed and asked me to follow up after a month if it is still in progress.

Would order GSMS to try and figure out if actually passed or not
