As a PR I think you can stay outside Canada for 6 months continuously and if you leave Canada with just an ECOPR then you will need to request a PRTD which according to my lawyer takes around 2 months but you can request IRCC to issue it faster in case of an emergency.

So once you are a PR (with PR Card) what happens if you stay outside Canada for more than 6 months?

I called IRCC as I’m travelling out of country in mid December and does not have Ecopr. So he said there is not wait time for it. If you want you can reply on mail id for portal 1 and let them know the date you’re travelling and they will keep everything on hold. But I don’t want it to be kept on hold .
