Hong Kong Stream A/B Permanent Residence Pathway

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for people from Hong Kong who are applying for PR through the temporary policy, as I'm not able to find a lot of information about what happens after you submit the application.

For context, I have worked in Montreal for 22 months which qualifies me for Stream B under the recent change allowing people from Hong Kong with 1 year of work experience in Canada to apply for PR. I submitted my application on December 16th and I'm wondering about the following:

1. How long do PR applications from HK usually take to approve? What is the process in between?
2. Are we eligible for any bridging open work permits to work in Canada while we are waiting for the result?
3. As I'm finishing my role in Montreal, do I need to find another way to stay in Canada while I'm waiting for the PR result or it's okay to work elsewhere and come back to Canada once I get approved?

As a note, I'm fully aware that I won't be able to live in Quebec under this pathway, which I'm fine with and have no intention of doing so.

Hi vincit, same thing brought me here, well first thing first. If u have applied PR for (no education) stream b it’s under H&C application and ur on closed work permit and it is going to expire you r eligible for BOWP but YOU HAVE TO HAVE GET A KIND OF AOR FROM IRCC that your case file is accepted,once u got that u r good to go. If u have applied PR for (no education) stream b it’s under H&C application and ur on closed work permit and it is going to expire you r eligible for BOWP but YOU HAVE TO HAVE GET A KIND OF AOR FROM IRCC that your case file is accepted,once u got that u r good to go. ADDED* shoot a webform to ircc by explaining ur situation and ask them the letters of acceptance of your pr file case so u can apply for BOWP. Once u got that from Ircc means matter solved.

Yes I did got a request letter to submit medical, Biometrics and HKPCC on September 5th 2023, which was submitted by end of September 2023. I just received a “Pre Arrival Services” letter on April 12th 2024. No other update other than these.

Hi Harry, no I have not got any update till now. My local MPs office informed me that all assessments have been passed since May 2024, but no update from IRCC.
When did you submit your application and what was the last update on your application from IRCC.
