Hello,
I am currently a student in Canada, and my length of studies is 4 years (PhD). However, my study permit, and visitor visa expired last year, so I applied for study permit, and got it pretty quick. I then applied for visitor visa in June 2023, and am still waiting on the results.
Since the application is delayed this much, I am doubting whether or not I made mistakes in my application. I reviewed my application a few times, and I suspect a couple of things:
1. In form "imm5257e", It asks about purpose of visit to canada. Options to choose from are:
Returning Student means a student who re-enrolls after a break in enrollment of one of more semesters.
2. When applying, it asked whether or not my current study permit was "study permit" or "study permit with DLI". I checked my study permit, and in front of "Institution Name", it is written:"Designated Learning Inst". Originally I assumed not having a number for DLI would mean that my study permit doesn't have a DLI, but I am doubting it now.
I have sent a few webforms asking for updates, and the answer was that it is waiting for a background check.
If I have made a mistake, should I withdraw and apply again? or should I send a webform and explain the situation to the officer?
Thank you, I would appreciate any help.
