I wish to find out how I can sponsor my child who is 26 years old to join me in Canada. We haven't seen each other in person for 10 years. She was not declared during the time of application. I applied for her in 2020 when Canada opened the pilot program to sponsor undocumented children. Due to a mistake on the application form, the documents were returned and unfortunately she turn 23. I called the IRCC customer service and the agent told me she is mo longer qualify since she us above the dependent age. I really need to bring my child. Please I appreciate any information to help with my situation. Thank you all so much.

Do you have any family in Canada and are you married? If you do, then you cannot sponsor her.

Study: She could come and study in Canada. She would have to get admission, pay international fees, justify program, show ties to return. This may not give her PR.

Economic: She can immigrate based on her age, education, language, experience and funds through Express Entry or PNP.

Visit: She can come visit you but must show her own funds, ties, travel history and reasons to return. Given the fact that you claimed asylum/refugee, it may be difficult for her to be approved.

Is it possible to bring her as a nanny? I have two other children 8 and 4 and I am currently a student and working.

This is not an easy path, although it may be possible.

Assuming you are living outside of Quebec, the process will take several years. She will need to have related education / work experience. You will also need to have enough income. The application will be reviewed much more closely since she is a family member to determine the job offer is genuine and you're not just doing this to facilitate an immigration path for her.

The HCCP program only opens up once a year on January 1, and reaches quota and is closed the same day. She needs to meet requirements (ECA, IELTS). You need to set up a business registration number and need to show that you can afford to pay a full time nanny. There is no set income amount but you need to show that you can pay salary (around $35k per year) plus all your living/daily expenses. So you looking at a salary of around $100k per year. You may be asked to describe why you need a full time caregiver if kids are in school. Given processing times, oldest may be 12-13 years old by processing so may not be able to justify full time care. HCCP is a pilot which ends next year so requirements may change.

Thank you, she is awaiting graduation in a degree program this December and is preparing to write the IELTS. All the information provided will help me determine what to do. If not for being in school I had a good income but right now as a student it is less. As much as I want her to travel, my reason for the nanny is because one of my child is on the spectrum and needs some extra help when I am not around.

Maybe she can take a post graduate program, and get a study permit as the HCCP is not really an option for you with no income.
