Can we Including My Wife's Sister in Our Visitor Visa Application?

Hello everyone,

My wife and I are preparing to apply for a renewal of our Canada visitor visas, as they are set to expire next month. We have both previously obtained multiple entry visas and had the opportunity to visit Canada once in 2020. Since we now have two children who are US citizens, they are exempt from needing a visitor visa. However, for this upcoming application, we would like to include my wife's sister as a family member.

My wife's sister recently completed her master's degree in the USA on a student visa and has been working in the software industry for a couple of months. Although she hasn't had a previous Canada visa, she is currently residing with us in Texas, USA.

We are aware of the necessary forms to be submitted, such as IMM5257e, IMM5645e, and IMM5257b, which must be completed for each individual applicant. Additionally, we intend to provide all relevant supporting documents, including our work permit documents, paystubs, employment letters, and individual financial support documents. To demonstrate our travel plans, we will also be booking flight tickets, hotel accommodations, and a rental car for all of us.

Our main question is whether it would be acceptable to include my wife's sister in our application, considering that we all reside at the same address. Alternatively, would it be more appropriate for her to submit a separate application? We understand that according to the IRCC, family members are defined as spouses, common-law partners, dependent children, and their dependent children.

We are unsure if including her in our application would provide any advantages or disadvantages for her or for us. If anyone could offer guidance or share their own experiences, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Vijay
Your sister must apply on her own using a separate application. Her application will likely be weaker than yours so you wouldn’t my want to include her even if it was possible (it’s not). Do not purchase any flights or make any reservations (especially non-refundable ones) until you have your TRVs. IRCC actually indicates that nobody should purchase flights before being approved for a TRV. A sample itinerary is fine. You can use airline sites or sites like Expedia to show sample itinerary without actually booking the flights.

Hi, we also got refusals for visitor visa for our parent in laws two times and we're thinking of applying for a super visa. But my wife is unemployed. Have you sponsored and your spouse invited?

In my case, I was (am)on maternity leave when I applied and my husband works as an contractor with Intelcom. Basically, you must prove that your household meets the minimum necessary income. The following documents are examples of what can be used as proof of funds:

  • Notice of Assessment (NOA) or T4/T1 for the most recent tax year
  • Employment Insurance Benefit statements
  • employment letter including salary, job title, job description, and date of hiring
  • pay stubs
  • bank statements

Hi all, just checking about all the forms that need to be submitted before i finally hit the "submit" button for Super Visa application for my Father-in-Law and Mother-in-Law legally married to each other in Bangladesh for 40 years. Me and my wife are both showing our Notice of Assessment. I am submitting below forms:

2. Family Information : Form# IMM5707
3. Document Checklist: Form# IMM5484
4. Medical insurance

I am planning to apply for supervisa for my mom. She is outside Canada. Can I fill up the online application on behalf of her from here?

Also, she is around 70 years with no serious health issue. Any idea how much the insurance for a year would cost? I am looking for minimal coverage.
