Thanks. When you are planning to go and submit OCI ? also for kids do I need to get any paper or certificate from peel ?

School certs not required only carry originals(birth certificate(if they were born other than CA/IN then the registration of birth certificate from the Indian mission overseas), passport(CA, IND), SC, Citizenship Certificate, Marriage Certificate of parents) and copies as per the checklist.
hint— carry extra copies for all documents, warna agar BLS main photocopy/printout karna pada then they may charge you an arm and leg..

Hi All,
I recently got my CA passports for self and family. Watched videos on the SC process.
I have one question.
For getting a surrender certificate, we can send the forms via courier or in person drop off at BLS. I understand for multiple family members BLS requires one appointment slot for each family member. Sometime I read in the forums that you can take appointment of any kind (Passport/ Visa/ OCI) it doesn't matter. Appointment is required to just clear the security guard who lets you in. Once you're inside then even if you have appointment for OCI you can still get in the line for Surrender certificate. My question is - is this still valid?

Currently no appointment slots available for "Passport" or "OCI" but for "Visa" slots are available - Any idea if I can use the "Visa" type appointment for Surrender certificate?

my only 2 cents here is go with all family members
eg if they reject the photos you got and force you to take photographs at BLS then family members being there will come in handy.. if a copy needs self attested by your wife or kids would be another scenario.
You can try and book an appointment for Saturday if during the week is an issue.

But like I said above collection will during the week in the afternoons only.

Thanks Sir ji. it helps. 1 question marriage certificate only has first names (last name is not there ) for both me and wife. hope that is ok ?

What about the names of each other on the Indian passports for you and wife ?
- On your kids Indian passport are the parents mentioned?
If answers to the above is a yes, marriage certificate will not be required , but carry that with you in case

Yes sir. On each other's passport we've spouse names mentioned. And in kid's passport full names are mentioned.

How you are planning to upload photosyo OCI portal ? Taking regular camera click from phone and then uploading in OCI portal ?
Or scanning via some app from phone and then uploading to OCI portal?

Please confirm kind of doubtful in this piece.

Previously BLS was accepting SC applications without Canadian Passport. Applicants would provide a declaration that they have not yet applied for or their Canadian Passport is under process.
But since the last few months that process has been changed and Canadian Passport is required for Indian SC applications.
tbh if their no urgency on your end you can wait. You can surrender Indian citizenship/cancel the Indian passport up to 3 years without any penalty.

If you need to travel to India, of course you'll need the Canadian passport and once you have that you can apply for eVisa for which you do not have to provide SC https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html and do not have to deal with BLS

but the problem with eVisa is that we can stay only for 30days or so i guess. correct me if i m wrong
