Hello as my per my info, some options could be:
1. If you did not planing to land this year in canada, you might ask ircc regarding your case , if pregnanacy issue is complicated they might extend or reissue , I am not sure
2. you shd do soft landing why loose ticket money, then again if you decide to deliver in canada you can go in oct month , but travelling in last trimester is complicated, issue of health card also,
3. If you go now in may and did soft landing and then deliver here in india, then you have to sponser your child which is taking time approx 12 months as per some info
4. If you have no hard or urgent obligations you shd deliver in canada, otherwise you, child , your husband have to face separation for some time till child sponsership approved
5. I think you shd talk to ircc explaining medical emergency complicated pregnanacy, and they might give option to add baby to file and you may be issued copr again , along with child but I am not sure about you must confirm with ircc

In my case we did soft landing in oct 2022, now my wife in last trimester and out of canada, due to circumstances planing to deliver here in home country

Did you request IRCC for extension? as per my agent, they are reluctant and not possible for extension, they say.

Also is it possible to get PR card urgently?
Are you aware of anyone getting PRTD urgently?

Regarding 2) They would have to buy another one for Oct/Nov anyways. Just waste the May ticket would be less complicated.
3) If the baby is Canadian born, there is less complication
5) IRCC strike is looming (in case you are not aware): https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/possible-strike-action-by-ircc-employees-starting-mid-april.794007/

You can't request initial PR card urgently.

Planning to delivery in

Planning to delivery in canada.
As per CIC, PR card can be urgently processed, has anyone done this? I an ready to buy ticket for Oct 2023 but is this possible?
How do I prove that I need urgent processing for my permanent resident card application? (cic.gc.ca)
Which province? Some province might waive the wait but it can change. The link is related to renewals only. You are getting your first PR card.

If you have money and the airline has seats, then it's possible for you to buy ticket for Oct 2023.

SINP, but for waive i dont think has to do with province.
Also link does not mention anywhere it is for renewals? right?
What does this mean "Just waste the May ticket would be less complicated." so you saying do the hard landing in Oct 2023?

I think you shd go in may, call ircc I think they might not extend but confirm,
But you shd secure pr in may , as pregnancy proceeds your health might not allow you to travel

Thanks Rahul, was thinking in that direction, soft land in May and request PRTD on basis of Ticket on urgent basis to hard land in Oct 2023. Its short duration and little risky as I have to wound up my job also in that duration, lets hope for the best.

Hi Rahul, what happened in your case? did you sponsor your child? what is the processing period for the sponsoring child?

Hi friends,
I received copr in Jan 2023,
I was planning to do soft landing in May 2023, but now circumstances have changed as we are pregnant and expecting our child in Dec 2023 and my COPR expires in Nov 2023.

As I have already booked flight tickets for May 2023, so what are my options, should I do soft landing in May 2023 and Hard landing in Oct 2023 so to delivery baby in Canada or directly Hard landing in Oct 2023 and forgo the MAY ticket. (non-refundable ticket price 4.5lk) (as I have some obligations and can’t do hard landing before Oct 2023)

Also do we get PR card within 1 month after soft landing?

Please provide your suggestions

Hi Rahul,
I went through a similar situation. Considering your COPR only expires in Nov 2023. I would suggest you to immediately reach out to CIC through IRC Webform, explaining your situation and attach scan report or proof of pregnancy requesting for extension so you can add your new born to your PR application. I would recommend add your new born to the PR application before moving or doing your soft landing. It gets way more complicated to add your child to PR later as many have mentioned.
You might need to do the medicals again and you will need to upload your Childs birth certification, passport and thats about it.

If you are planning to move for good, then you should consider delivering the baby in Canada that would be much better considering expected arrival of baby is Dec 2023.

All the best and congrats on the child.

Cheers,

You have plenty of time to land before due date. Extensions are rarely given unless child is born when your COPR expiry time is very close to or after the birth and COPR approved very later into your pregnancy. The only other exception would be in a very high risk pregnancy where travel is banned for example being on bed rest for the majority of the pregnancy. Waiting to land in October is a very bad idea. In some provinces you may not have health coverage for the delivery and the majority of the 3rd trimester. Ontario wait time will come back at some point so if you are planning on coming to Ontario factor in a potential 3 month delay until getting health coverage. In the province where you have immediate health coverage you also may have to commit to remaining in that province for the next year as part of qualifying for health coverage residency requirement.

The poster doesn't think provinces have anything to do with healthcare.

Healthcare in Canada is provincial. This means that every province has their own rule and system. There is no international "Healthcare" system in Canada.
