please do. am an april 2022 applicant and have reached out to my MP cuz I can see that IRCC has moved on to May June July August. In fact, a friend of mine who applied in October is at the same stage as me (citizenship test completed). beggars belief really.
Yeah ive seen september/October applicants sitting their tests. I'm annoyed, delaying travel, delaying applying for my kids dual citizenship as it's easier if I have a Canadian passport. Etc etc

I am strongly thinking of sending an email to the Premier and the PM, there is nothing to lose at this point.

I know that we have processing time but I don’t understand how are they working on March 2022 applications already and leaving us behind. It is not like they are waiting for me to provide additional information or documentation.

I seriously cannot wait until 2024. I do not think It is fair.
The idea of being granted citizenship has lost its charm

Well the joke is... I was not even invited to the citizenship yet ! I am well behind most people in this office. I only have my "Background Complete" since September 2nd and that's all.

Here is what IRCC answered:
  • The Criminality verifications: passed
  • The Security verification: passed
  • Citizenship test: not started
  • The immigration verifications: not started
  • Other Comments: No outstanding document at the moment. IRCC will contact the applicant directly if additional information or documents are required. The current estimated processing time for Citizenship Grant application is 23 months. Your application is still within processing time (until December, 2023). Rest assured that IRCC understands how important this process is for the applicant and is making all the necessary efforts to finalize the application as soon as possible.
I can't have any beginning of an explanation on why I was not even invited to the test yet. Is it because of the agent I was assigned to? Because of quotas?
They just keep repeating "All is fine - just wait" but it's hard to understand that all is fine when my application is not treated like the ones from this thread
I guess writing to my MP worked. My status was updated over the weekend and i am finally invited to take the citizenship test
The more i think about it, the more i think they just messed up back in September and put "Background Complete" and "forgot" to invite me to the test. This is the only logical explanation...

So the only status is updated but i did not receive the email yet. Is it usual that it is received later? (the window for the test is March 31, 2023 and April 20, 2023)

yeah, you should see the email in a day or two. Keep monitoring the junk mail box too. Sometimes it gets routed there.

So here is the response from the MP office

"As promised, we followed up with IRCC for an update on the status of your application and were advised of the following:
  • Your application still in progress, it was received on January 13, 2022 and still under the estimated processing time of 23 months.
  • Other Comments: IRCC has advised that all assessment had passed, nothing pending or requested at the moment.
  • Language not started
  • Knowledge not started
  • Prohibition not started
  • Your PR Card was valid till February 26, 2023. If you have already submit the renewal application, kindly send the tracking number, or proof as of when it was sent, since IRCC have no record so far of the submission.".
  • I had to send the proof of MY PR renewal request - This is another example how bad the system is. By the above message i understood that they would sit on my application until Dec 13 2023 despite the file being clean and no further details are required. I will have to make a move, just waiting for my new PR card. I can summarize that applicants who give their test outside Canada are for sure treated separately wrt timelines. From this forum i see people whose files are delayed are either outside of the country or gave the test outside of Canada.

I'm so sorry for this kinda useless reply from them.

maybe now that you have your MP contacted them they will actually pull your file out and process it? Fingers crossed.

I did my test from Canada...haven't left the country in like 3-1/2-4 years.

February applicant...LPP still in progress since dec 02.(last and only 1 real update)

I think we might have been assigned to a "waiting bucket" non-existent agent number.

That's what happened to me as well and my file was updated a few days after. You can wait and look at the tracker this week and see what happens.

I totally agree with you. Although I haven't been waiting as long as you, I am also in a similar situation with an AOR dated June 2, 2022 and not one single update on my application. I also feel like Canadian citizenship has lost all of its charm. I wish you all the best and hope you get an update soon.
Hey Alex, did you write to your MP ? Seems like it works, at least that's what I saw in this forum.

WTF! Do you even need to inform them of the PR renewal? I renewed my PR in December and haven't informed them since then. It would be heart breaking if thats the reason why they have stalled my application.

Good Morning,

I have reached out to MP's office multiple times but its a standard response about delays due to COVID yada yada yada.
My Citizenship test was completed September 26, 2022.
Then in Jan 2023 Background, Physical Presence and Prohibitions was marked completed.
I believe we're supposed to receive Oath request 4-6 months from completion of the Citizenship Test.

2 more days until 6 months are up! Fingers crossed - finally coming to an end of this process.
