Exporting a mattress

from india, i am travelling with family, and wanted to bring new mattresses, since you had bought the mattress in the past, will i be ask to pay any duty or do i need to declare it?

Why not get them in Toronto? I thought shipping fee gone up post-covid.

i am planning to get the one we are using here, got used to it, but yes the new ones, as part of flight baggage.

Why would you ship a mattress? It will take up so much room in your limited luggage allowance and they tend to be quite heavy. Is this an air mattress or a bunch of blankets? Doesn’t make sense to ship a mattress your old mattress.

I am planning to move to Canada via Uhaul truck with my car in tow using my stamped CoPR.

I have a question regarding my mattress. I have premium mattress that i bought this January and i am not willing to sell it.

Can i export the mattress to Canada without any issue? I heard there is an exemption for settlers for bringing in used mattresses to Canada.

I did a soft landing on June 27th, 2020 and i have my stamped CoPR.

Please share your experiences or thoughts on this matter, especially if you've moved with Pocket Spring mattresses or other large household items across the border.

You shouldn't have any issues bringing a used mattress into Canada as part of your personal household goods when you're moving permanently, provided it's your own used item and not intended for resale. Many new permanent residents bring furniture, including mattresses, during their move. Just make sure you declare it on your list of goods you're bringing with you (or goods to follow, if applicable) and ensure it's clean and free of pests or contamination. If it's in good condition and clearly part of your household belongings, it generally isn't a problem.
