Hello,

I am about to submit TRV application for my Mother-in-Law. My wife is expecting and due in Feb. I will be fully sponsoring my MIL during the stay, To increase the visa approval chances
1. Should I submit the Dr. note and what should the Dr. mention in it?
2. What should I submit as proof of income/funds for my MIL?
3. What should I submit as reason of visit. I am thinking of "To join the birth of grand child and spend sometime with us and newborn as well as visit some tourist site". Will this be good enough?
4. Should I submit a separate invitation letter inviting my MIL?
5. Any other documents I should submit to make the case strong?
NOTE: My MIL has never travelled out of country and this would be the first time.
Thanks and awaiting response from people with similar experience.

Where is she applying from because most TRVs take 6 months to process?
1. Doctor note relevant if your wife needs full-time care and is on bed rest/urgent care
2. Your MIL submits POF, unless applying for supervisa. So your MIL provides her bank statements, pensions, investments, property. If she doesn’t have the funds then ask for a short visit 2-3 weeks with reasons to return. You and your spouse’s income doesn’t have to be considered.
3. That is a reason. Don’t think she will make birth of child so say meet grandchild for first time.
4. One letter of invitation from your spouse.
5. She wants to show travel history and ties to return to home country (job, business, pension etc.). She needs documentation to return home.

As already stated for a TRV what is primarily considered is the savings of the person visiting. You must include proof of their assets. Your savings will be considered second. You can indicate that you will be covering her expenses but she still has to show that she can support her stay. There are some cases that are approved without parents showing enough assets but many are also refused for similar reason,. You don’t want to use any language that indicates that your MIL I’ll be working. No cooking, cleaning, caring for the baby, etc.because that can be considered illegal work. Providing emotional support and meeting new grandchild are the best things to say.

She is from Pakistan. I will apply on her behalf its online I guess theses days. Do I also have to purchase travel insurance and submit it with the application. If Yes How do I figure out the dates of coverage. And what about return tickets?

So she is still applying from Pakistan. Are you applying for a super visa or TRV? If supervisa then you need a year of paid travel insurance. For TRV, not required. You show travel itinerary but do not pay for tickets.
