So what will be a good national identification number to use? I don't think I am supposed to use my Aadhaar number I think they are asking for a 'Canadian national identification number'.

its optional to write as the other user answered you..better leaving that answer blank.. but its asking for "Indian National ID" number not Canadian in that question.

Re Employment Letter for OCI

I did not submit any employment letter nor I was asked, i knew already that it was a optional document. While speaking to the clerk I double checked and she confirmed not all Indians who apply for OCI will have employment letters, some are senior people, house wifes, children, labour, business owners, people who work on cash/factory jobs etc... when they kept employment letter mandatory they faced many challenges, so instead they now made COPR mandatory from which they will pull out how a person got PR internally and employment checks are no longer required...

Whenever there website have a update, they will be listing COPR document requirement in upload section as well as in paper application

Quick Question - one of my friends has medical emergency and he got his canadian passport today using the medical certificate on emergency grounds. Can he walk into the consulate for an Indian Visa and get it on emergency? He has tickets for travel on Friday or can he apply at BLS and request for them to expedite it?

If anyone has VISA appointment for tomorrow at Brampton and doesn't need it please let me know so that he can go and apply as VISA comes in 2-3 days. He wants to keep all options open. Thank you much in advance.

Guys I am checking the status of my OCI application and on the website its showing arrived at Toronto after stamping last week but no update after that its almost a week, how long they will take to deliver the documents ?? Anyone else stuck in the same situation ?

I submitted on August 4 and my status is the same, we might need to wait

I submitted on 28th july and status showed up on 2nd august on OCI website with date as 3rd august (Acknowledgement). It is improving slowly.

I hope he/she gets it.
They should have something like expedited services. Even if they introduce it, I am sure it will be expensive.

Canadian passport.. it does take 10-12 days to show up on the OCI website.

As per the website, the surrender of passport at Brampton BLS is at 60 Gillingham Drive. So, I had booked appointment for Surrender of Passport at BLS Brampton 60 Gillingham Drive. Note that you don't get 60 Gillingham Drive address If you book appointment with application type "Passport" so I had to select "Visa".

I arrived at 60 Gillingham Drive 30 mins in advance and asked the security guard whether I need to line-up, he asked me to go to 40 Gillingham Drive for passport surrender and talk directly to the security guard at the door 10 mins before the appointment.

So if you are booking appointment, I suggest just book with appointment type as "Passport".

I was allowed by security guard at 40 Gillingham Drive without any need to lineup. However, she said the 60 Gillingham drive should also be able to process the passport surrender applications.

Once inside the building, the complete the process took less than 10 mins.
