For OCI no need to upload citizenship certificate
But photocopy (self attested) is needed during postal/walkin submission
only things that need to be uploaded
1.Canada passport
2.COPR (under Indian visa section)
3.Indian passport (cancelled )
4.Birth/Marriage certificate (as applicable)
for child applications include parents docs as well in scan (COPR,Indian passport, Canadian passport)

After the OCI status is changed to processed and document is received at Toronto, what is the next status change that happens on BLS site. Currently it shows "Processing at Consulate General"

BLS status changed this morning to "Counter Delivery to BLS Centre after OCI stamping". OCI website was updated last Friday/Sat I guess.

Last minute of OCI submission, I need clarity. Can someone help.



On the OCI Ottawa checklist I do not see anywhere it states that the document needs to be translated.

My daughter Birth certificate was issued in Quebec 4 years back and it is fully french in both long form and short form. Do I need to make it a certified translation? I am going to the Montreal office 30th June Morning before opening time.

Anyone from Montreal with a French Birth certificate successfully submitted the OCI?

Hello All,
I am trying to send my OCI application via postal in Toronto as appointment is not available till August end. I need some guidance as the rules on the BLS website are vague and confusing. This is what I understand of the process, request people with recent experience please verify and correct as needed:

1. I already made a DD for $345 in favor of "Consulate General of India - Toronto". Now I need to make another for $7.4 in favor of "BLS International Services Canada Inc" as I intend to pay courier fees online.

2. There is a "Book your postal" link on BLS site. So I shud book a "Pickup and drop off" for the same? Not sure how to pay for the same yet.

3. There is a "get your payment link" on the side. Is this for courier payment?

4. There is no need to send any originals with the application (Toronto). Only self attested copies of all docs required. Correct?

5. What address to send the application? It is not mentioned anywhere?

6. Any other pitfall I missed. Will appreciate anyone with recent experience to guide before I fall into a ditch

1 suggestion @ BLS Brampton there are loads of appts under Visa Category from July 11 so I would recommend you to do an in-person submission and then do a postal service if you live far away from Brampton. You will anyway have to send it to Brampton AFAIK with postal service and not Toronto.

I personally did SC and OCI with Appts and was hassle free @ BLS Brampton. Picked up my OCI yesterday afternoon. Pl check signature for timelines.

@dushyant2809 Thank you. Yes, I denied their postal service as BLS Brampton location is less than 10 minute drive away from my home.

Picked up OCI card yesterday from BLS Brampton journey is finally complete.

ALERT: BLS Brampton changed Pick up timings to 3 PM - 4:15 PM reached location at 2:27 PM was 13th person in line. Allowed inside at 3:30 PM out by 3:45 PM looks like they really want to force people to pay for postal service after processing and fleece money. I picked up SC last month then pick up time was 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM

You can pay at the BLS office in cash or by debit.
DD/Money order is for postal apps.

I don't think that's true, the Money order is for CGI Toronto and has to be paid by a Money Order only, Not cash or Debit.

No. OCI fee Cad 345 has to be paid only by draft or money order drawn in favour of counsulate general of India (details will be in checklist)
BLS fee and other incidentals (courier/printing etc) can be paid through debit card

Thanks buddy you saved me a day. I went in an applied for OCI today. They didn't keep any originals at all. They even returned my cancelled Indian passport and surrender certificate. But the lady mentioned that the only way to pay for OCI is via Money Order. I got one this morning after you alerted me to it.
Application in now! and the waiting begins!
