So myself and family :wife (student) and son have already been in Canada now 3 weeks and i also did flagpoling (change of immigration status )for my workpermit at lansdowne/1000 islands land border (Ontario) to the US( new york ) because i initially applied for a visitor visa . The US officer was friendly at their border however the Canadian visa Officer(she) was a bit unfriendly because there where many borders i could use and still drove past them to the border where she was stationed . The Canadian Officer (she) still gave me the work permit by Gods grace , just wanted to stress me a lil to get the facts straight.

Good to know you got your work permit. Kindly share the documents you used at the border.

same documents as your spouse. Just keep your answers same as your initial study permit application ... they (officers) already know everything
just keep ur spouses study permit & passport as well as urs ...marriage certificate and SIN (Social Insurance Number) of spouse when ur partner opens a bank account . Since everything is tied to ur spouse better to have all their documents including yours . If possible go with ur spouse ...the officer asked me why my spouse didnt come with me to the border....I told them we both came the day before but there was a long queue (cars) and not enough officer's

Now that I’ve arrived in Canada, let me tell my story.
I completed senior high school in 2015. I wasn't admitted to any of the universities in Ghana so o ended up taking some courses here and there from. Some of them were good enough to be considered a diploma so I was able to carry out my national service in 2018-2019. After that no job. Hmmmm. I applied to a thousand and 1 jobs but nada. I was living on the benevolence of family.
My auntie in Canada suggested trying for a Canadian school. So I applied to Concordia University for BSc. and got an admission last year for this year’s winter. My aunt suggested a deferral because the winters in Edmonton are brutal. I got the deferral to this year fall. Then we went ahead to apply for the study visa. Remember, I had no job or even a bank statement but my auntie’s letter of financial support was solid. We proved our relationship through birth certificates. At the time of application, my tuition deposit hadn’t been paid. I got the request to do my medicals without paying any tuition fees. The day my PPR came, I got an email from Concordia that I had won an award that will go toward some tuition fee BUT I had to pay the deposit to access my student account. My aunt then paid $5000 so we could access the student account. Truly, there was a $1000 bursary for me. Fast forward, my aunt bought the plane ticket before my passport was returned from VFS. Then I started reading stories that students aren’t allowed to enter more than 28days before the beginning of school. I even read someone’s post of how he was put on the next flight back home because he came in too early. Again, there were varied opinions about one way tickets and return tickets with most advocating for a return ticket. Mine was a one way ticket. Wwhhhaaaaattt! I panicked because i was entering Canada on 23 June, more than 2 months before school and on a one way ticket. My aunt called Canada border services and they said as long as the traveller has a valid visa, they can enter the country. The problem was with the airline. So I contacted klm and they said as long as travel requirements are met, I can travel. So I completed my ARRIVECAN and sent a copy of the receipt together with my Covid vaccine card yo klm.
My checkin was smooth. I arrived in Edmonton safely and met a nice immigration officer who only asked to see my passport and letter of introduction. No questions at all. My study permit was printed and I can work both on and off campus. No customs wahala. Everything went really smoothly and it’s only Jehovah God I give the glory to. I have finished eating my assorted vegetable rice with grilled pork and cheese cake as a dessert. Summer activities are all lined up courtesy my auntie and her family.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
I pray each one of you will also have a testimony to share in the near future. It is well

For finance, she showed a bank statement covering 4 months with >$150,000. She also showed her pay slips for 6 pay periods. She works as a director at AHS and her annual income is $120,000. She also has 2 houses that she rents and that also brings in additional income. She added her current tax notice of assessment as well.
We do not carry the same last name. She’s married now and has the last name of her husband. But you see, ever since she started travelling to Canada, she included my mother as her sister in her family form. My mother’s birth certificate and hers show the same parents. And mine showed my mother. So the link was there. My aunt added her Canadian passport to prove her status in Canada.

One tip. Everyone should go through the official pages for the accurate information. We didn’t use a consultant to apply for the visa. But we made sure all the required information was provided.

Yes, I received my passport with the visa back from VFS today via DHL. I sent it via DHL exactly 2 weeks ago. Will keep you all posted when I land.
Regarding payments, VFS sent an email that i had to pay 200ghs but when I called them, the one who answered said I had to pay 42ghs. I’m in accra and though I was confused with the disparity, I went with the 42 ghs. Lol.
My passport is home safe with me lol

Did you submit it in person at the VFS or through the DHL?
If it is possible to pay GHs42 instead of GHs200, then we want to take advantage of that

But please double check with them ooo. I was scared because of the disparity. Maybe just call and confirm
