Hello guys - i really have this major confusion - I did read multiple threads but still i am a bit confused.

I am currently in Canada .

I understand the requirement is to work :
  • 12 months of full-time work:
    • 30 hours/week for 12 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours), OR
  • equal amount in part-time hours, such as:
    • 15 hours/week for 24 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)
    • 30 hours/week for 12 months at more than 1 job = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)
What if I worked 26 hours weekly for 60 weeks = 1560 hours will that make it 1 year of work ??
or will that still be considered part time and i would need to work another year ?

or what if in some week i worked 28 hours , where as other 24 or 27 but always above 20 hours ..

will i just count the total hours in this situation ?

So confused .... need help :(

Thank you in advance ..

Work experience is counted by duration of your employment (how many weeks/months/years you've worked for a company), not how many individual hours you worked. Additional hours above the minimum requirements (15/30 hours) do not add any time to the length of your work experience.

Working 26 hours per week puts you in the part-time category. So if you have 60 weeks of part-time experience, it would only be considered equivalent to 30 weeks of full-time experience. You will need 24 months total of part-time work to make 1 year of full-time experience.

I won’t agree with this. If someone has worked 52 or more weeks and hours accumulate to become more than 1560 by any combination of weeks and hours thn a person can claim it to be one year experience.

In short as long as u have 1560 hours acquire in 52 or more weeks u r eligible

That's incorrect and will put someone at high risk of refusal.

If someone worked more than 30 hours per week, the extra hours cannot be carried over to make additional weeks. You have to calculate part time and full time hours separately to determine how much work experience you have.

It does not matter how many hours you worked. If you worked less than 30 hours it will be considered as part time which means you need to work 24 months to qualify for one full year experience.

I respect your opinion, but a friend of mine had more than1560 hours in 52 weeks. However there were weeks when he worked less than 30 hrs and in other weeks more than 30. His cumulative tally was around 1700 hrs in 52 weeks and he is now a PR. He got invited as a CEC.

So I guess may be u r rite but it seems it is always at officers discretion
