Hi All,

I am 32 Canadian and have been living abroad for about 9 years. I have been married to a Thai lady for 4 years. The 2 of us would like to move to Canada ASAP. I would like to know which route would be best? Should we get her a tourist visa first etc?

Thanks for you help :)

1. You can try, but I wouldn't hold out much hope for a TRV as her intent is to remain permanently rather than visa.
2. As a Canadian you can submit a spousal sponsorship while residing overseas. You need to include a settlement plan with the application, accommodation, work, schooling see: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp
3. The processing time is 37 days at Singapore and 18 months for 80% of the applications at Singapore.

PMM's post is on the button.

There are very few "fast" anything where immigration is concerned.
You will need to adjust your concept of speed.
Take your time, gather all the required information, complete and submit the forms...... and wait.

Hmm. What is the longest TV that they give out? Couldn't we say she is intending on visiting and apply for spousal from there?

Yes - but she'll have to declare you as her husband. Given she has a Canadian husband, it's not a big leap to guess she might be interested in remaining in Canada long term. This is why spousal TRVs are often denied.

She has 2 children here from a previous relationship so I am sure they will allow her to visit. what is the maximum TRV length?
