Hi Everyone,

I want to apply for my father visa. He just want one time visit. So can I apply for him just for normal visit visa instead of super visa or super visa is the only option.

Also if super visa is the option what is cheapest insurance companies for medical. Is medical insurance required in normal visit visa.

Please Advise.

We applied for a visitor visa for my mother-in-law. They try to grant multiple entry visas, same price, same restrictions, just means your dad can visit 6 months at a time over the life of his passport (he might want to get a new passport as well)..

So if I correctly understand I just apply for visit visa. The only thing is that he should leave within 6 months. Do I need insurance in this case.

Insurance is a good idea, as health care for the uninsured is expensive.

Still confused.... Can somebody else explain it.
Your father should apply for a regular visitor visa. How long he is allowed into Canada will be up to the CBSA officer at the border. Most visitors are given the default six months - but it's possible to be given a shorter visit. Insurance is not required but very strongly recommended as health care in Canada is expensive if you have to pay for it yourself and you don't want to end up with tens or thousands of dollars in medical bills if your father has a medical emergency while in Canada.

Furthermore there are two options on the website

a) Visit as tourist
b) Super Visa

So I should fill the forms of visit as tourist.

Is that correct

Yes - that's correct.

Insurance is typically purchased before an individual travels.

What is the benefit of submitting forms as visa for tourist and not as apply for super visa. Is it cost or the processing time is different. I am just wondering if my forms are return and they say that apply for super visa instead...
