Hey guys, my application says “IN PROCESS” and they added the line medical results have been received... what does this mean? :-\ :-\ :-\

We received your application for permanent residence on April 7, 2015.
We started processing your application on May 20, 2015.
Medical results have been received.
More than likely in process meaning basically nothing, Ottawa has been slammed with complaints about them not updating ECAS enough so it seems like In process means when the file was received by Ottawa however, I would order notes to see if eligibility, criminal or security has started, if none of those have been started in process on ECAS is basically AOR2. I have been in process for over 2 months, and reading the GCMS notes that i received this month, none of the checks have started so I would not look to much into the in process status unless you want to be disappointed.

Hi everyone,

I'm just wondering whether anyone has had any experience with sponsoring a spouse that has a child from a previous relationship.

My husband's ex-girlfriend is making it very difficult for him to apply for their child's passport (needed for the medical) and very likely will also make it very difficult for us to schedule the actual medical. They've been going back and forth for several months now using "scheduling conflicts" as an excuse.

I know it's necessary for the medical to be completed even though his child will not be accompanying him to Canada, however, I also read somewhere that it's possible for them (my husband and his ex) to sign a notarized letter stating that she will not make the child available for a medical and that he can never sponsor the child to come to Canada in the future.

Please let me know if anyone has had any experience with this in the past or any sort of advice to offer? We're running out of ideas Sad

Thanks!

Your comment actually made me realize: I have no idea what the procedure is when I leave Canada (after having PR) and then re-enter. Do we simply use passports as documentation as always, or do we have a specific procedure (i.e. different line) we're expected to follow?

I worked in Japan, and when I'd come back into the country, I showed my residence card and visa in a specific line in customs. I realize I don't know how Canada handles PR coming back into the country, and it might be helpful to know before I inevitably do it wrong. :p
You should show your PR card, and your passport too probably. If you have a visa-exempt passport you can show that to customs and they will see your status in the computer, but some officers might get angry that you don't have your card. Some places have different lines for residents vs visitors at customs and some don't. There is a different section you fill in on the declaration card when traveling by air, since you are a resident instead of a visitor.

Does your application under Permanent Residence show Medical Results Received though? And did you receive the letter for Proof of Permanent Residency? Cause I have been In Process since August 12 and they just updated the Medical Results Received Area on My ECAS.. I am very happy because if you look on the detailed notes it is stating that once the application states Medical Results Received, it means Decision has been Made. Just waiting for that to officially be updated on ECAS. Be of good cheer. Everyone is waiting here. Blessings!:)

It makes me a little anxious, I've gotten the email for more documentation (Proof of residency in Canada, PR Fee if not paid, etc.) but my eCAS STILL hasn't updated to show Medicals received, should I be worried? Been in process since August 14th. Very frustrating to see people who filed mere days before or after you already landed, I'm so mentally finished with Government x_x All it does is make me think something was lost or something went wrong with my application.

I'm unsure if "Medical results have been received." actually means anything in terms of processing. mine has said that since it was transferred to Ottawa back in July and the status was still "Application Received".

Mine recently changed to "In Progress" but nothing new has appeared in the detailed info.

My medicals passed according to My GCMS notes, you do realize those documents that they have requested are generic batch letters does not mean they have accessed your application possibly sending these letters out as delay tactics as you will notice there a deadline on when CPC Ottawa needs those documents which probably prolongs process times , you will see this if you order notes i received that letter on August 20th and my notes that I received today still show eligibility criminality and security have not been started, people need to relax and not look too much I into in process, Ottawa processes files however they like some people will get approved before others freaking out after 4-5 months of waiting is a little bit ridculious . You will know if your file is actually in process if eligibility, criminal, security has been started. However more likely than not in process just states your file has been reviewed by Ottawa.

I'm not sure where you got the information that once it says Medical Results received that a decision has been made. Mine has shown Medicals received (and my notes say I've passed) since April when we got our AOR. I'm not trying to be negative, but want to make sure you are realistic about that piece...

The officer who is handling my husband’s papers just messaged me today that the full application is in his hands and that it is received. So he is reviewing our papers! =)

How does one even get in contact with the person handling their papers, luck of the draw?

You use the general e-mail address for CPP-Ottawa with the requested info (file no, UCI, name, etc etc) and then it is forwarded to the case officer. How responsive the case officer is to the e-mail depends on the case officer. Some barely reply at all while others are much more responsive. So that part involves some luck (the "luck" being which case officer you get to review the application)

Does everyone receive that email?

Edit: Does everyone receive the email requesting additional documents be sent regardless, or is it sent only to those who are actually missing something? I'm just curious; my application went IP a week ago, but I haven't seen that email. I'm not sure if I should be looking for it, or if it potentially may never come.
