We will so much appreciate your suggestion on this matter.
We applied for Family Class in Feb, 2010 and the Visa office is Buffalo
My spouse is not from a visa exempt country but we got an
ecas tracker telling us that an interview is required in Buffalo with a date
so he will require a Visa to enter US bcos he is on study permit here in Canada.
We will like to know if we can request for a US visa for him at the POE since i the
Sponsor will be going with him or If we can apply for US at the consulate in Canada
by just showing them the Interview letter from Buffalo before the US Visa will be issued.

Thanks to u all in advance!!

There is no guarantee the US visa will be issued (we've seen several cases here where the visa has been refused). Definitely apply in advance - and include more information than just the interview letter (i.e. proof that demonstrates your spouse has strong ties to Canada and has no plans to remain in Canada long term). Good luck.

Thanks Scylla, but he since he has friend and relatives in US would it be better if we just go as visitor by visit then before/after the interview date.
At this point we are sure what to put in the B2 Visa application form (interview at buffalo or visiting). As for ties of Canada sure we both do but just can't stop thinking until issue is sorted out. Any more suggestions are welcome.

Non-visa-exempt persons cannot show up at a point of entry and request a visa. They MUST apply for it before they arrive at the POE. He should state the purpose is to be able to visit the US, and provide proofs of his ties to Canada and reasons why he will return to Canada at the conclusion of any visit to the US. The interview letter alone is NOT sufficient proof of anything.

For the US Visa you will have to fill out the application online. I do not know where you are located but you should check to see if there is a US embassy in your area. During the application process you will also have to upload a recent passport size photograph of yourself and select a date for the interview. It is highly recommended that you take a letter or document that shows that you are enrolled in school in Canada along with the letter requesting the interview in Buffalo when you go for the US visa interview at the US Embassy.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention above that you should take your study permit along to the interview at the US Embassy. More than likely if they grant you the Visa to the US and if it is for multiple entries they will put the expiration date of the US visa to the expiration date of the Canadian study permit.
