Tips for a successful BOWP application

Interesting. They added a line to the eligibility criteria:

To be eligible for a bridging WP, the following parameters must be met:

They are the principal applicant on an application for permanent residence under the FSWP, the CEC, the PNP or the FSTP;

Plus a brand new section clarifying who does not qualify for a permit, and another new section about spouses and dependents.

I'm hoping that quoting the old OB in my application does not matter, as I appear to still be eligible under the new one... ???

Spouses are still eligible for "Spouses Open Work Permit", but they won't be eligible for BOWP.

Since you submitted your application before this new OB comes out, you'll be fine.

Since it's OWP, they do not ask for current job offer. The case you refer to must be that someone made a mistake.

I just submitted my ONline BOWP application awhile ago. when i returned to this forum, i happened to see OB 485-A! In my explanation letter, i pointed out the OB 485, and attached my AOR letter. I think it is still same, may be they made it clear who cannot get!

My another doubt, by chance, will they ask current job offer letter during processing? coz, in another BOWP related thread, one person was requested to submit job offer letter even though he mentioned everything in explanation letter. In my case, i left my previous job, and now i am looking for another job like searching god :'( what will happen? any inputs are much appreciated! Thanks

I think so. The new OB does clarify some matters that people have been asking about on here, namely about whether you can apply for a BOWP:

- after your WP has expired, during the restoration period, or
- at the port of entry, or
- having already received a positive LMO that you could use to extend your existing closed permit

That's a 'no' in all cases.

Only principal applicant qualifies for BOWP. If she is a dependant, then she qualifies for an open permit.

For spouses of Federal Skilled Worker Class applicants: the Bridging WP holder must be performing work which is at a level that falls within National Occupational Classification (NOC) Skill Levels 0, A or B.


Q1. My understanding is we are not giving any job letter or anything for BOWP application . How do I prove that I am working in the field ?
Q2. In some other forum I heard that Both Prinicipal applicant and Spouse need to fill separate appliation form . Is it true ?

Job Title - Senior Software Developer
Brief Desc of Duties - Design development testing etc.

So do you think this is sufficient . Wouldn't they normally require some kind of proof that I am actually performing these duties.

Phew ... relieved .

The reason is I don't want to involve my employer for any kind of letter right now as they might start my LMO process but I am not sure as it is going slow .

No worries.

BOWP is always for a new employer. Apply online and you shall have it within 4 weeks.
It's a straight forward process unless an applicant complicate it.

Once you get it, you will see some restrictions such as, School enrollment and courses.
You can't perform the duties of a Stripper and an Escort. Just in case!! ;D

Currently, I was thinking of choosing option of same employer as technically my employer would be same even after I receive BOWP .
Do you think it makes sense to keep it that way .

Check the option of same employer. It will be an open permit anyway.
