Spreadsheet updated jmomcc. Congratulations!

Your COPR will have an expiry date on it. Most likely it will be a year from your original expiry date. You will have until the expiry date to land.

You mentioned your change of address, is the location we have for you still correct?

One more question about the copr. My original medicals ran out on july 14. They must have been extended (i assume). Does this mean I have until next july 14 to land? I have a job and I'm under contract until mid december so I'd rather land after that.
You'll have to wait and see what CIC decided to do, sometimes it's a year, sometimes it's six months, some people have only had two weeks to land. Sit tight until it arrives and go from there!

Hi all,

My Spousal Permanent Residence Visa application was received on 6th August and my spouse's sponsor check process started on 4th September.

My Canadian fiancée is moving back to Canada from London in December. I'm expecting I won't be able to join her until my Visa is approved (I predict that would be around July 2016 best case?) which is hard.

Is it possible to have the opportunity to move out there earlier, before my Visa is approved, and apply for a temporary work Visa in the meantime?

Thank you.

Hi sausageboyuk, you asked this question in this thread a few days ago and the answer was no*. You can find out a lot of information in the FAQ, linked in my signature.

* One option is IEC/working holiday visa but that scheme does not open until early 2016 and then you have to be one of the lucky few, competition for the visa is very high. Search international experience Canada for more info.

Thanks Andrew. Yes, sorry, I did ask. However I came across a CIC article that made me wonder further. It won't allow me to publish a like here, but the title of the article is Work Permits for Spousal Sponsorship Applicants.

It says:
"A foreign spouse in this situation can still apply for a temporary work permit, but he or she will be subject to general requirements for work permit eligibility. In order to be eligible for a standard work permit, an individual must typically receive a job offer from a Canadian employer."

Thanks again.

My location is the same. I moved within the same city.

I really hope my landing date fits my plans!

Re: Thread for Outland LONDON, UK Applications! India Applications

Hello,

I have recently received my acceptance letter for my sponsorship application. I am a Canadian citizen and my wife is a citizen of India where she also resides. My concern is that we were expecting the permanent residence application to be sent to New Delhi India however they sent it to the London UK office. Does any one know why they would do that? Is this random or due to back log?

This is what they sent me:

"You have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor. Accordingly, the Application for Permanent
Residence for your relative has been forwarded to the visa office in London for further processing.
This visa office was selected based on your relative’s home address and the requirements of the
Immigration and Refugee Protection Act."

That is not a CIC article. cicnews.com is run by the same law firm that hosts this website.

The OWP pilot program is only for inland applicants. As you applied outland, you do not qualify.

COPR just arrived in the mail!!!

It was signed for, which was a surprise as I thought in Canada it just arrived normal mail.

We have condition 51 although we have been together 4 years, but common law for only 27 months. No big deal.

Planning a border trip this week ;D

Here's hoping you all get news soon from LVO, special hopes for Taffy, Scotmoose and Andrewbrit ;D

Medicals are valid for a year. Does the e-mail say text along the lines of "if you have already done a medical please disregard this letter/email@?

Sometimes CIC sends requests which are generic and not specific to your application.

Finally when you log in to ECAS under the permanent residence application status, when you click on In Process does it say medical results have been received?

Grrr..first they sent us an email requesting the medical certificate which we sent with our original application, and now today we got an email asking for Japanese Police certificates, which we also sent with our original application. The certificates were given to us (from the Japanese embassy) in a sealed, stamped envelope and we therefore have no copy of it ourselves. The email we got from CIC today has given us 45 days to send them the certificates, but to obtain new ones takes 3 months! I have sent a case specific enquiry, but am hoping this is just another 'glitch'. Has anyone had a similar experience?

When did they request your medical certificate? Does ECAS show medical results received under the permanent residence application? Also out of curiosity can you post the e-mail address the request came from?

Sometimes CIC will ask for something but the request will also mention that if you have already sent/included said document then there is no need to worry, which is why I am wondering if your ECAS shows meds received.

Spreadsheet updated with the Japanese police certificate.

The Medical certificate request was mid July. I sent a CSE saying we'd already sent it, and attached a copy of it. They then emailed back saying it was a glitch and not to worry our file would be updated. It wasn't.... A few days later we got another request for the medical and again I sent a CSE telling them I had already sent it (twice) and attached a third copy. It finally updated on ecas as 'medical received' about a week after that.

Today the email we received said they had reached the point in our application process that they needed the Police certificate to proceed. It did NOT say anything about "if it had already been sent....". I've sent a CSE and also responded directly to the email, so hoping to get a response soon. It took us three months (and 2 trips to London) to the get certificates the first time around, so really hoping we don't have to do it again.
