Also, I have good news! Just received this email from London:

"Dear xxxxxx,

Please be advised that your visa has been inserted and your passport was sent from our office today.

Weeeeeeee!! No more worrying about Canada Post!

Congratulations. My passport was signed for in London (sent from Canada) on 17th of October, but I haven't had it back yet and certainly there has been no email from London.

Did you ask them to send you an email?

My hubby and I actually made a new email account for each of us that was easy to get right and is only to be used for the visa process. this way, we wont miss anything going into our regular email spam folder. I think its probably a really good idea to do that, then at least you're not worrying about it all too much!

I agree with alasken. I haven't had any issues with email correspondence so far!

The point isn't that it doesn't work well when they get it right, which will still be *most* of the time, the point is that as the system is at the moment it's extremely vulnerable to not working at all. If they happen to get your email address correct at that crucial first stage of typing it in manually after reading it off a paper form, then it will always work perfectly; if they don't, then you're shafted. The mistake is easy and trivial to make - the consequences, finding out about it and resolving it are not, and are entirely disproportionate to the banality of the error.

Out of those who use this london forum (hardly a vast pool of people when you look at pinklady's spreadsheet) three people have now had problems, and it's *possible* that myself and Mittens have the same. I don't much like those disturbingly high odds of something going t1ts up if you opt to use the email system and therefore Yameen's advice seems perfectly reasonable.

My husband just submitted his passport in person to the Canadian consulate in London today. Should have the visa in the passport in two weeks!

Hi Alasken
Did you ask for them to get back to you with a tracking number for the passport return, or did they just sent you this email by themselves?
We send ours on oct 14th and they received it on oct 17th and we still haven't heard anything. Getting a little nervous cause we have a trip planned in 3 weeks from now.

they seemed to know what they were talking about and said they had another case exactly the same circumstances that they're currently dealing with...

i hed passport request on 18th of oct 2011, same week before sent passport to chc london

my e case shows , decsion made , what is this mean ? has my visa printed , and my file is

completad and closed , no more checks etc ............ what could be the mean ?

my class is femily class and i have appeal won case thanks , i have sent my pp 4 days ago .

Yay! I hope the good news keeps coming for those of you waiting for so long.

Fingers crossed that my application got to Mississauga ok, and that they don't screw up my email address, and my docs are acceptable - arghhh!
