Could you please let me know how did you find out? did they email you or did you email Ottawa office to ask?

I just called CIC at 1-888-242‑2100 and they looked it up and told me.

About 3 weeks after I landed, I drove to US and came back to Canada via Niagara Falls crossing, with my COPR and my passport. I had no problem at all. The border officer understood that I haven't received my PR card yet. He reassured me that I'll be fine crossing with my COPR+passport before my PR card arrives.

I recall when I landed, the immigration officer told me that if I need to travel using commercial means (eg, flights, bus) before I get my PR card, I should apply for a travel document. She said those commercial companies will be penalised with large fine if it is found out that they take any PR who cannot show PR card or travel document.

PR card takes about 2 months to arrive. The immigration officer will order the PR card for the PR when s/he lands. PR does not need to do anything other than providing the mailing address to the immigration officer.

You can come into Canada without the PR card after approval. Just explain your situation. I know CalgaryBound(think it was) went to Maui to celebrate as soon as they got PPR and on their way back they didn't have a PR card.. Some jerk of a airport immigration guy sent them over to the immigration and they were all "I don't know why they are sending you here, go on. Welcome to Canada." type of thing. Just have your paperwork and approval papers and say you're waiting on it to arrive in the mail. It SHOULD be as simple as that. Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi all ! just checked my Ecas and it says in process medical received at least it my file has been opened

We received elokpo's application for permanent residence on February 17, 2012.

We started processing elokpo's application on June 7, 2012.

Congrats to those with news! I can't imagine how frustrating the Buffalo office closing is for everyone.

Just wanted to update I rec'd my COPR from Seattle today so there is still movement from that office, if anyone is there.

Hey all. Found out just now from CIC that my file was transferred to Ottawa. At least I know where it is now...

Hi, can you please tell me how did you ask them about your file. Because when I called CIC number today they told me that I would have to get in contact with Ottawa myself as the agent on the phone cannot look it up. Please let me know how did you phrase the question about location of your file to to CIC agent. Thanks

(We had called 3 weeks ago before Buffalo closed to find out where it was...we had been told it was at Buffalo, but Buffalo told us that it wasn't there. We were told to call back in a few weeks, which is what we did yesterday). I heard someone else on the forum say that they were told by CIC to wait a month to find out where the file is. I would suggest calling back, maybe another agent will tell you. Or email Ottawa to ask about your file, and if they tell you that they don't have it, then call CIC with that information. Good luck!
