Did you applied online or paper application.
When was medical done?
Current processing for Visitor visa (from outside Canada) is 32 days, I think we can consider same time frame for SuperVisa too.

Regards.
Hey Paul, I applied online application and we haven't received medical yet. And it's been 3 weeks now.

Try to contact the doctor which has performed the medical. Some members have got their parent's medical passed just after creating their profile. less than 24 hrs.

I think you didn't get my point. I am trying to say immigration didn't request us for medical yet. Most of the super visa applicants getting medical request within 2 weeks if they haven't done up front medical. Let me break these points again.
We submitted online application on July 9, 2016 without upfront medical and its been 3 weeks, cic didn't send us any email to do medical for my parents. Is it normal ?

Apologies, I thought you have submitted the application with medical done. I think we can only wait, next week may be the one hopefully.

Question on Super Visa

Hi guys! Just want to ask, what is the best way, i mean the fastest way to submit an application for super visa? Online or at the canadian embassy in the philippines at makati personally or is it supposed to be mailed? I really have no idea where to begin. Also, if my parent is intended to stay for 2 years, does she need to submit an insurance premium for 2 years already? What insurance can you suggest?

Go straight to VFS makati personally.TAT of supervisa is 1mo. ( online is 2 mo.)...TRV at vfs is 2 weeks.

Nag apply po kc me for supervisa on line last feb 2016...unfortunately incomplete po requirements ng father ko...hanggang sa nag lapse na ung time frame. Then nag submit kami personally sa vfs last july 4...kaso...since we dont have insurance...kaya TRV na -applyan namin. Then mid July...nag VOH na sya.all the best of luck.

I see. So you mean if I apply 2 years for her stay, then we need to submit 2 years of insurance instantly.

Hmmmm as far as i can see it...as far as i can feel it.....you are correct. but better clarify fom insurance pips...(because when i applied on line.it was never stated in requirement checklist). In addition...we declared (@vfs)that my dad will only stay for around 2 months...so i did not bother to read further more of that insurance thing.

Just because your parent intends to live in Canada for 2 years, you don't have to write this in your application. Just mention that s/he will stay for a year. In that way, you don't have to buy an insurance for 2 years.

No matter what, if your parent is granted SV, s/he will get the maximum visa validity possible on his/her passport.

Yeah. That's what I've thought. So for us, it's 5 years.

First of all, I don't think there is any place in the form where you have to specify the duration of time your parents would like to stay in Canada for. The only place they would be asked this question is at the port of entry. They will have to declare how long they're planning to stay in Canada because the officer will stamp the validity of the visa "for that particular entry" based on their response, so I would ask them to say "2 years".

The SV requirement is to have at least one year of insurance, so as long as you satisfy that, you're fine. I don't know if the visa officer at the port of entry will check to see if your insurance is valid for the amount of time that you said you would like to stay in Canada for. But I haven't heard of anyone having this problem. I assume (and other members may correct me if I'm wrong), that most people take insurance for 1 year. I don't know if the Canadian immigration mandates this to be renewed before expiry or not.

There is indeed a field on Page 2 under Details of Visit to Canada section on IMM5257 form where it asks to indicate how long you plan to stay in Canada. Besides, people normally mention the intended duration of stay in the invitation letter.

The SV requirement is to have at least one year of insurance, so as long as you satisfy that, you're fine. I don't know if the visa officer at the port of entry will check to see if your insurance is valid for the amount of time that you said you would like to stay in Canada for. I agree with you here. I will give my mom's example:

My mom got SV back in 2012 for nearly 5 years.
- She made her 1st entry to Canada alone in same year only to stay for 3 months. So, we didn't care what the POE officer stamps on her passport although she had to show medical insurance.
- She made her 2nd entry alone again in late 2013 to stay longer. So, I taught her to demand 2-year stay, in fact, I wrote e letter addressing POE officer asking for 2-year stay as my mom can't speak either English or French. Anyway, the officer stamped her 2-year permit without even looking at any paper (not even insurance). She stayed nearly 1.7 years this time and left with the rest of my family for a vacation at home.
- She recently made her 3rd entry on our way back to Canada with a renewed passport. But her SV was expiring in 6 months. So, I asked for 2-year stay permit. The POE officer made us to go see Immigration Office (at Pearson) for that. The immigration officer stamped her 2-year permit after checking 1-year medical insurance, all our passports and asking few questions. That relieved me a lot as I don't have to extend her stay for now. See my detail post here re: the incidents at Pearson on her 3rd entry.
