my parents reach canada... but they got 6 month visa only... we have given them letter etc.... but then also only 6 month visa... then whats the purpose of applying for supervisa....(Quite dishearten )

just want the advice what can be done after 6 month stay .. do they have to leave canada...
This is awesome as well regardless of that only 6 months stamped or something. They don't have to leave for sure, you guys just apply for extension before that 6 months they said. Or perhaps you can go to nearby immigration office to straighten that out. The question is that if you guys still have to pay. I am hoping that you guys don't have to pay. Then that would be really disappointing, I would think.

Based on the recent timeline, it normally takes seven weeks to complete the super visa processing. Also, no news is most often a good news :)

For how many times we can apply for extension of visa?? Any idea ... is there any limit?Do they extend it for 6 months only {in case of supervisa extention}

In my case i dont see one positive point of applying as supervisa..it would have been better if we have applied for Visitor visa ...

I understand your feelings.

But Super Visa, as a temporary replacement of Sponsoring Parents for Immigration, is almost guaranteed if you fulfill the criteria and there is no major health issues found. On the contrary, TRV for Parents isn't that easy to get. Parental income and ties will play major role in this case as opposed to your income in Super Visa category.

And when you apply for an extension, they may grant 2-yr stay.

Well, based on what I learned from my acquaintances here who already have their parents here long time before that super visa, you can get another 6 month extension for three times. That applies to regular TRV and perhaps to those who also have an existing PR application which most of my acquaintances have. It would be best to clarify it with the immigration officer. And at the same time be grateful. :)

You can get extension for up to 2 years. My mom came here with TRV (not Super Visa), and her 6-month status was expiring this month. We applied for an extension through the Super Visa, and got approved for a 2-year extension. And yes, you will have to pay an application fee when you apply for extension. It's $75. I purchased her one-year medical insurance as per the Super Visa requirement. Your mom probably has insurance now, and will have 6 months of insurance left when you apply for extension in 6 months. Not sure if you will need to extend your insurance for another 6 months to make it one year when you apply for super visa extension or if she will need to pass medical examination again.

yes she has 1 year insurance ... is it so that we can apply for extension before 30 days of expiry status?

In your case, your husband has to sponsor your mom. When you're not working, your family income counts. Having said that, his income will be checked if it meets LICO. You mom having enough fund is a plus; but you have to meet the LICO anyway.

Your husband has to declare that he will be bearing all the cost of your mom in your invitation letter or any other supporting letter. He also has to provide necessary doc as a proof of his income.

Important: If you have 3 kids, your family size would become 6 in total (including your mom) when you're considering Super Visa.
A question for someone else in this situation. If I were to have to meet the LICO standard and found I was short a few thousand dollars, could someone like my father co-sign with his income. His income is MUCH MUCH higher then the LICO. Then there are like 2 people bearing costs. Or does it ALL have to just come from me or no super visa?

Make sure she brings a letter from you asking POE to please kindly grant 2 year and make them alert that this is Super Visa PG1. Otherwise they won't bother fixing the date on their pre-set system for all visitors. Knowing that there have only been 1000 approved Super Visa, I don't think POEs have handled many Super Visa entry cases.

Examination includes questions (with interpreter of course) and checked baggages. But after everything is cleared they were very nice. They do their job to protect Canada.
Is this little letter what you hand the POE when you get to the desk> What if he says we'll just talk about it?
Now is the letter written from my perspective to the POE allowing the entering party in? or is it from the perspective of the entering party asking the POE to grant him/or her (in this case my mother) to enter?

Does that mean that ties don't play a huge role in the supervisa application?

If you're married and your better-half is a PR; your spouse can co-sign to bear the cost of your parent(s). Your father whom you're sponsoring may not be able to do that.

Parents who were rejected TRV before (more than once) are getting Super Visa nowadays. Moreover, Super Visa allows you to stay for 2 years for which family ties cannot signify anything here.
