Hi

Can you sponsor your wife to come to Canada if you used to receive social assistance in the past but no longer does.

If no then how many "free of Assistance moths" do you need to be before applying?

Yes - you can sponsor your wife if you used to receive social assistance but no longer do. Generally we recommend that you be off social assistance for at least three months before you apply to sponsor your spouse. You'll also need to remain off social assistance while the applciation is processed.

To add to the above, if this was recent, you will need to show a very strong plan of how you will support yourself and your spouse without welfare.
