Oh I see so I guess I have to make more postings. But thank you for your detail message :)
I see we are neighbors back home since Venezuela is my neighbor!

Another question: When I get my permanent visa for Canada is there a specific time limit I will have to go there or I can stay in the US a little more and work before I head over there. I have a pretty decent job in the US for now so want to save some money before moving there as I don't guarantee what job situation will be like there.

I want to make my 10 posts cause I want to reply to your message, thanks for the advice!

COPR/Visas are usually valid until the expiration date on the passport where the visa is stamped or the expiration date of your medical examination, whichever comes first. In many cases the VO agent handling your case will request an extension of your medical examination if it will expire around the date he/she believes your visa will be issued or it has been less than 15 months since you had your medicals done - if beyond 15 months a new full medical examination is usually ordered. My medical examination was requested an extension by the VO two months before it expired (it would have expired in May 2013) and I was asked to have a chest x-ray done only. My medical examination was extended for another full year from the date my original examination would have expired. That gave me from April 2013 (when the COPR/Visa were issued, although I received them in May 2013) until May 2014 to move to Canada. However, we moved to Canada on July 1st 2013.

Japanese citizens are visa exempt so the passport isn't needed. Philippine citizens are not visa exempt and the VO must add an immigration visa to their passport.

Usually they want a photo for the PR card.
oh i didnt send a photo do you think they will eventually send us another email for a picture and delay our application?

Does anyone has any idea what this mean? Does this mean that CIC will make a decison before this date?
Any idea or comment is welcome.

Hello,

I would appreciate if anyone can guide me on this..

I am a permanent resident and landed in Canada in Oct 2011. I stayed only for 5 days, applied for SIN and returned back to Dubai, UAE due to my ongoing job there. My PR is valid till Oct 2016.

While I was out of Canada, I got married in August 2012 (1 year ago). My wife lives and works full time in UAE and is expecting soon.

Now, I am back in Canada (re-entered on August 14, 2013) to complete my stay to be eligible for citizenship. I am still searching for a job and have no previous job history in Canada.

My problem is:

1. What would be the fastest way to get my wife in Canada?

Even if I try and apply for her TRA (Visit), I believe it will be denied for obvious reasons that she won’t leave Canada after the expiry of her visa. Even though she has a full time employment there.

If I apply for her sponsorship now, then the CIC processing time for stage 1 and stage 2 is about 2 ½ year. She would be stuck in UAE for a very long time. Not to forget that she is expecting a baby very soon. Also, once applied I will not be allowed to stay out of Canada for longer durations.

What do you suggest??

1. I should try for her TR instead of filing a PR?? Is it possible?? Is it possible to apply for a TR without initializing a sponsorship?? She is a full time employee back in UAE and can apply there with my invitation letter. I checked the processing time is about 5 working days.

2. Suppose if we are lucky enough to get a TR for her, is it possible that I can apply for her sponsorship inland while she is in Canada???

Thanks

Thank you so much for all this information. I really appreciate it and chatting with someone in a similar situation really helps.
After migrating to Canada as a permanent resident, can I come back in the US to visit?

Isn't inland sponsorship a better option? She can stay with you in Canada while she waits. The only drawback would be that she cannot leave Canada during the whole process.

I don't know much about inland so I can't give much details. But from what i have heard, it could be your best bet.

That would be ideal situation but the possibility of getting TRV for her is very thin.
Do you need a TRV first for inland?

Sorry my lack of knowledge is showing... I guess i should shut up and let the experts answer :)

Citizens from countries that are not visa exempt need a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) to enter Canada even for a visit. They can't apply for inland if his wife is not in Canada. She can't get into Canada is she is denied TRV.

And I do believe there are slim chances for her to get the TRV beeing married to a Canadian resident that is not yet employed and being also pregnant with mentioned resident. But why not try? Make the best case you can: buy a return ticket, show her ties with her job and her family in UAE (if she has a family there), show proof of financial resources for here there and for her trip and such. With her in Canada you can definitely apply for inland procedures and extend her visitor status after 6 month, having the sponsorship application as grounds for it.

I do believe that the best chance for her to get TRV is after the baby is born, if she leaves the child in UAE with her family. But that would mean for both of you not being able to visit your child for a long time.

She would need a TRV to enter.

Let me try my luck with applying a TRV for her and the baby (new born dependant). If we get it then I would apply for her sponsorship inland.

Thanks

Hi all, looking forward to joining the ranks in a couple months (getting married in November, woo!).

Just had a quick question about the additional family information form. My fiance has a half sister that he never talks to and isn't really part of the family anymore, does he still need to put her on the form even though he has no information for her? I think he could probably find it if he had to, they're Facebook friends, so he could probably ask.

We're also going to have issues trying to find out the info for his dad as he also doesn't talk to him anymore, but I think his brother does so we might be able to get the info that way. Yay....

Oh, also, his mother got remarried in June, do we need to put his "step dad" (they don't consider him their dad since they're in their late 20's already) and any of his kids on the form as well? He's never met any of them.

I don't want to be a downer, but I think there's 0% chance for her and the baby to get TRV together. To get TRV the VO needs to be convinced that those getting it will definitely return to the country. Now put yourself in the VO's shoes and imagine if a wife and a new born child going to visit the PR husband is a scenario where the 2 visitors will return.

Thank you for this information. I will not jeopardize my status in Canada by trying to come back to the US. Will just wait on citizenship. I am trying to get my 10 post to I can inbox you
