Hello experts,

I am looking to help here.

The situation is. The lady who is in Canada applied for PR and now at the advanced stage. While she also applied for hers kids who are currently outside Canada. She applied for them as well and hopefully they will be in Canada before the end of this year. She will fly to her country and come back with kids.

The situation here is she is planning to get married and apply for his would-be husband as well once she is back.

But her consultant is telling her that she can't marry him until she lands with her kids first. Meaning she will go there and come back with kids and once she done that , she will need to fly back to her country again just to marry.
Is it really the case?

I thought even if her kids not landed yet, while she goes there to pick them up she can get married and bring her marriage certificate.
And once she is back in Canada ,she will apply for spousal sponsorship.

Any suggestion from experts? What is CIC's position on this?

Thank you.

trying to help some one in need...

She should wait until after everyone has landed before getting married.

Will she have to return to her country to get married? or is there any provision in Canada that will be helpful here?
Lets say long distance marriage.....

If she marries before she is a PR, she then has to add her husband to her application, which will delay things. But if she marries before she is a PR and does not add her husband to the application, she will never be able to sponsor him.
Her consultant is right. Scylla is right.

Her marriage certificate alone is not enough evidence for a sponsorship application, in any case.

Once she gets her COPR or PR visa, she could go somewhere closer, such as the USA or a Caribbean island, then come back to Canada and 'land' as a PR. Once she is a PR, she could then go back to her country, get married, and bring the children to 'land' as PRs. That is, the children do not have to land at the same time she does. However, she should not get married before she is a PR.
