Dear members I have question as you know in india there are two laws hindu law and indian personal muslim law, one of my relatives is married acc to muslim personal law and has 2 wives. the secound wife is Canadian citizen and wants to sponsor her husband. can she sponsor as we r getting confused replies pls only experts answers ! No - she cannot sponsor him.

Canada will only recognize his first marriage - his second marriage is not valid by Canadian law / IRCC rules and for this reason his second wife cannot sponsor him.

Still not a valid marriage under Canadian law. As far as IRCC is concerned, the second marriage didn't happen.

The original 1st wife would also never be able to come to Canada unless she could qualify to immigrate based on education, skills, work history.
