Hi, my husband has already applied for a SOWP online almost 3 months ago under my job as a medical admin assistant. The problem is that, I got hired to work as a registered practical nurse (the program I finished here in Canada) and will begin working this June. I called CIC if there's any way I could update my husband's application and give additional information, but was told that there is no way to add/update information on an online application. They said the only way would be to withdraw the application and apply again if I want to change my work details. Sad I'm just really worried that that may not be the best decision. We already waited this long. Do you think it's necessary to withdraw and start again? Thank you for any replies.

Hi, why do you want to withdraw your husband’s SOWP? Whether you’re working as a medical admin assistant or RPN, he is still eligible to get a SOWP due to you having a high skilled job. If his current application happens to be denied for some reason, you could then apply again and provide your new job information.

Thanks for replying amira_mais. I'm just worried CIC might call my previous employer and deny my husband a visa once they find out I no longer work there. I don't know how CIC verifies someone's employment information. Do you know if CIC calls at all?

CIC might call your employer but there's no way to know for sure. I guess it comes down to - do you want to see this application through since you've been waiting 3 months and take the chance that CIC may be concerned about your change of job; or do you withdraw and provide your current information to possibly give yourself a better chance of success.

Since you can always re-apply if you're refused the first time, I would stick with the application. But you and your husband may feel more comfortable with the other option. Good luck either way.

Hello,

CIC did not call my employer to verify my employment details when I applied for SOWP for my spouse and study permit for my child. It was approved last month.

Hope this helps.
