Recently they have provided Kiosk facility at Pearson Airport. One can swipe his PR Card and enter Canada.
There in no need to face an imm officer.
I was wondering how they ensure RO IN SUCH CASES.

Immigration officers can still come to you before you enter the arrival hall and ask you questions.

Ya ! They always can do so, but the question is about the system being made more user friendly at the risk of possible abuse and routine scrutiny!

When someone applies to renew their PR status or applies for citizenship, CIC doesn't just use the kiosk information to verify they meet RO. They also have access to flight manifests. So if there's a discrepancy in the info (i.e. the person has claimed they were in Canada more than they actually were), there's a good chance this is going to come up.

No doubt. Everything comes out at the time of pr renewal. But this a different situation. A person can reenter even without meeting mendetory RO, AND THEN STAY TILL HE FULFILLS THE RO and then apply foe renewal!
He becomes immune once he fulfills 720 Days stay. The Flight manifesto etc become irrelevant at that point of time !

I made a reply to a similar question:
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/pr-card-expires-before-the-730-days-required-t118357.0.html;msg3477998#msg3477998

the kiosks give CBSA two advantages:

1) reduce work load of CBSA officers by automating the immigration process (we get an advantage for this too - faster lines)
2) make it easier for CBSA to track and record your movement

The kiosks will use some system to determine if you need to got secondary inspection. What exactly this system is is anyone's guess. But I wouldn't count on the kiosk system making it easier to enter. Actually the word is that their "rules" are often more strict than the average officer.

This sounds logical, but is based on assumptions. No one seems to be sure of actual situation.
There have been people here who used the automated kiosks and got caught in secondary inspection and were reported.

The only safe way to keep your PR is meeting the RO. If you already don't meet the RO, you will have to take a risk entering and no matter which method you use, it is possible to get caught or to get a lenient IO or a strict IO. A lot depends on your luck.

After having entered, you are also relying on that after 2 years, you can renew your PR card without consequenses. Nobody can guarantee that the rule that allows that will not be changed at some point though.

The above means a lot, if one understand how difficult the decision to move to Canada becomes if someone entering Canada without meeting RO, so much of stress and torcher one has to bear that one who entering Canada meeting RO cannot even image. Not only that, you enter Canada without meeting RO and life is smooth there after, No, real hell starts after that, bank, health card, DL, job, sponsoring (Kids, Spouse, relatives etc), emergency travelling, CRA etc. for another two years or so make life pathetic. Every other day you spend in Canada with fear and frustration for another 730days. The one lie at border open doors of lies in your life, you have to manage all your lies and character for the rest of your life. So after all I would say is better to meet RO than live a life of hell in a beautiful Country like Canada.
