Hi, please I have a related question; I applied for a work permit as a healthcare worker and I'm a bit worried about an abnormality on my CXR and possible delay and getting referred to sputum request and another X-ray, will abnormal X-ray make VO refuse my work permit even if sputum comes out negative due to nature of work as a worker in healthcare field??
Also, could I still work while I'm under medical survellance, just in case they approve my permit but request medical survellance??
Would appreciate any similar experience!

Thanks

Good day!
I just finished my medical exam at nationwide Baguio last march 8,2016. I was diagnosed with ptb last November 2004 and underwent treatment for 6mos. But during medical they asked me for another view of X-ray (lordotic view). Meron daw sila nakita na lines and they ask me to go for sputum test for 3consecutive days and that would be on the 14-16. Ang Sabi sa X-Ray suspiscious tb and abnormal findings Baka daw scar n LNG kaya abnormal yun findings. Na I stress n ko as sobrang pag iisip. Mag a undergo ba ko ulit ng treatment? I was also diagnosed with hepa b and they referred me to gastro. Anyone with same case with mine? Would this affect my application? Thank you. Please enlighten me

Hi Cool ammy

Understand your situation. VO may request a Reassessments for a new medical certificate for your parents if they unable to make a decision before the current e-medicals expires. However, the decision to grant a reassessment is at the discretion of a medical officer or a Health Branch delegated staff. Upon receipt of the request for reassessment, the medical officer and/or Health Branch delegated staff will:

  • Review the medical file to determine if there is sufficiently relevant and up to date medical information to provide a new opinion of admissibility on health grounds.
  • Based on the review of the medical file, send an e-mail to the officer who requested the reassessment confirming one of the following:

  • A. a new opinion of admissibility or inadmissibility on health grounds has been provided and the validity dates have been amended in the electronic system (GCMS or FOSS); or
    B. the client is required to provide additional information in order to complete the reassessment; or

    • C. request issuance of new medical instructions for a new full immigration medical examination done by a panel physician.
    • If the opinion of the medical officer and/or Health Branch delegated staff is that the applicant is:

    • 1. admissible on health grounds: issue a new medical certificate valid for a 12 month period starting from the date of the new medical assessment;
      2. inadmissible on health grounds: do not issue a new medical certificate.

    All the Best.

Also, could I still work while I'm under medical survellance, just in case they approve my permit but request medical survellance?? -YES, you can still work while you are under medical surveillance as along as you have stable health and no trace of any communicable pulmonary disease/TB.
Would appreciate any similar experience!

Thanks

Thank you so much for your clear answer.

So does any medical suspicious make one gets admitted undet under M2 code (Potential risk to public health. Medical surveillance required. Conditional entry recommended if granted entry to Canada. For example, applicants may be a “risk” due to a communicable disease that may reactivate, such as inactive tuberculosis), even if every thing came out negative?

Thanks

YES, but only if the panel physician infers it is inactive pulmonary Tuberculosis or complex non-infectious inactive pulmonary tuberculosis.

Don't worry, everything will be fine. My husband also did the sputum and repeat x-ray after 3 months. The sputum was negative and x-ray was stable so after the final report made by Pulmo and was forwarded to embassy, we got PPR just last Feb 16 (almost 2.5 months after repeat x-ray). We're now just waiting for our visa.

Goodluck to us!
Congratulations! visa on hand soon. I have a question, what is stated in the so called medical furrherance? is there a specific test to bw done? got ine email from cic last week and sputum test was not indicated.
Thanks in advance.

Please one more q; as for work permit that requires medical, does CIC send an initial approval of WP before receving medical i.e. A notice of approved WP pending medical clearance Or everything has to go together?

Thanks.

It is not standard, may vary case-to-case.
