Hi, on January 2013 cic in mississauga received my husband´s application to sponsor me and my son (me and my son we live in Perú).
February 2013 cic already had a decision made and sent to my husband a notification saying that they will send my application to Lima, Peru so it can be checked! already may and nothing changed since then, wonder how long do we have to wait for the status to change to IN PROCESS....

Medical was taken prior submiting my application and seems that they had received it already too, that it´s what it says in my status..

Anybody knows how long it is gonna take?

ECAS is notoriously unreliable. If your VO opens your application and updates your status, you are 'in process', but some people see their status go from 'Application Received' to 'Decision Made' without ever going 'in process.' The processing time for your VO in Lima, Peru is 16 months. 16 months is how long it takes 80% of the applications to be processed, so if you have a solid, complete application, you could be done sooner than 16 months.

Hello, just wanted to comment on this thread as well as I am waiting as well for my wife who is Peruvian. The Embassy received our papers in Lima in Jan. 2013 (although it was sent to them from Mississauga on November 1st, 2012??) - All medicals and police clearances were good. anyway, we are still waiting for call or something from the Embassy in Lima for my wife. In the meantime, I have travelled 2 times, going on 3 times, to Lima since.... It is certainly difficult to wait without any word or explanation as to why in the world does it take this long (16 months), for them to process it.

Anyway, my question is if anyone out there has had some recent experience with Peru/Canadian Embassy as to time frames - please post it here as I want to see what the average is.... Thank you

Hi,

I also replied on your other thread, recommending a Case Specific Enquiry. Reading this post, though, made me think of this file:

You can filter it to show only the Lima VO and check times. It'll also show how many months it took to X% of the applicants to get their PR.
Hope it helps!

Hi, you are very resourceful. I don't understand the x% though; the spreadsheet shows certain cases finishing but does not state by what time frame. I will read it again - stats are not my discipline. Thanks

Ok, I understand now. It says 80% of the cases for spouse sponsorships last year were completed within 16 months, 70% 13 months, 50% 9 months, 30% 7 months, and 20% 6 months - and Peru/Lima is about the same timeline - so the average down the middle seems to be 9 months (last year)!

This is really really helpful. i know 2013 is different now also because of the strike that may effect timelines, but at least I have an idea. Thank you again.

I filtered for Lima, and the file says for Lima VO, FAM class, Jan 2012 to Dec 2012:
*337 applications, 72 refusals for an approval rate of 82% -- meaning, 82 percent of people get approved in your VO. If we only see spousal sponsorships, that rate is 83% approved. It can also be read as 4 in 5 get approved (approximately).
*For spousal sponsorships, you can see that 20% of cases were processed in 6 months, 30% in 8 months, 50% in 10 months, 70% in 12 months, and 80% in 16 months.

You're right in consider that the strike may affect the timelines this year!

And you're welcome :D

Thanks a lot! Just a little detail, I read 50% (in Lima, Peru) is 9 months not 10. I guess the law of averages favours us having a 50/50 chance to be called/processed within 9 months, which means by September. On the other hand, you have to add the strike variable, although I called Lima last week and the 800 # at Immigration Canada, and they said it wont affect the process we are doing, it affects Visa renewals.

At the end of the day, one never knows, they can call tomorrow!

What I would like to know is if the CIC and Immigration Canada profess themselves to be so transparent, they certainly are not in the sponsorship process. When you call there (Embassy) they say send an email or letter, when you go there to enquire they say the same thing - and when you write an email or letter, they don't reply, and then when you call to confirm if they received it, they say to write or email in the question, and they don't reply again.

Someone who knows exactly the processing they do internally, which is not so transparent, should post something so the people waiting and wandering at least know what is possibly going on with their application: is it with an Officer, are they looking at pictures and the proof, etc, etc.

No choice but to wait. Thanks again.

Personally i am not going thru Peru but though Mexico. But I wanted to share my experience with you. Back in october 2012 mississauga sent me (the sponsor) letter saying they were going to transfer my husbands app to mexico. End of December the online status didnt change so we were worried. So in december we decided to send a case specific enquiry to mexico and withing 2 weeks they replied stating they never received my husbands application. After checking cic mississauga re- submitted our appliation and mexico received it in january 2013. Anyway to make long story short. Sometimes the transfer of applications is unsuccessful for whatever reason and it takes up to 30 days for the transfer between mississauga and vo office. I suggest. You contact peru to see if they received your application. Acccording to cic call centre this happens alot. :(. Hope this helped.

Thanks for this but we've known Peru Lima has received our application on Jan 22nd. That's where we're at right now.

You were right askcanada! I got the letter in my inbox today! We are so happy they are finally processing my case. I have a question, in the letter they asked me to undergo again with the medicals, right after that i did an appointment at the dr office and then i noticed that in the letter cic sent me it says that an e mail with instructions regading medicals will be sent to my e mail and if i don't get it in 2 days i should send them an e-mail for them to send it again to me. Now here is my question, since i already made an appointment but didn't receive the medical instruction mail yet should i take the medicals tomorrow as planned or should i wait 2 days until i get the instructions from cic (i have my file number and the letter they asking me for re-do my medicals)..we are getting closer to be together!!! So happy!!
