Oops, sorry James, that's weird because when I read your first post of Dec 7 I didn't think I saw anything in your signature, so was really confused...

Still don't think you need to worry or to call really, (except of course that it's great to know the news!) why should there be a problem? As I said in the other thread, there are a few others who've had their passports back with their visa in it, in under 90 days. Can't remember which offices though, but at least one was Berlin. Did you check trackitt and compare yours?

Hope it's good news for you!!!
Cheers,
TLH

They wouldnt deny you without and interview unless it was something made you unadmissible like criminal or a security issue. So from reading the boards it sounds like it great news for you James

I compared it to other applicants on trakkit and people have recently had their PPR's within 70 days from London so there is no issue there. I just really wish I got the email/letter already.

I'm a little concerned about the security check but realistically there shouldn't be a problem. I'm just going to be worried until I hear something. Glad I'm going over to see my wife on Saturday for a month.

Will keep you all posted.

My wife is going to ring tomorrow to see what the story is with that. I'd like to think I can go over and send my passport away while I'm in Vancouver but I'm not sure. If not, then I will have to FedEx it to London the day I get back in early January. There was no date attached to when the visa was issued so we have to make sure it's all within the 45 day period.

Does anyone know if there is a specific ban on traveling after PPR or is it just ill-advised?

I don't see why you would be banned or ill-advised... amsyul is doing the same as you, waiting until January to send her passport so that she doesn't get stuck without it for her Christmas visit to Canada.

I had the same question as you though, for us, if our file is delayed for some reason, we already have a ticket for my husband to come to Canada the day he quits his job in EU. So if the PPR comes too late for him to get his passport back before the flight, can he just fly over as a visitor, then change his address to my Canadian one, and FedEx the passport to the VO from Canada (with a prepaid return FedEx back to Canada)? Then when the passport arrives back, we do a border run landing. Seems as though it must be possible considering that many people (eg ange) seem to be going outland even though they are physically in Canada.

I posed the question and someone said it would be ok as long as our VO doesn't have any issues about sending passports to Canada. So I might email them (or ange) and ask if it looks like we will want to try that route. It must be allowed though, if you think about it, because you can always choose your country of residence OR nationality... so many ppl who are already in Canada are going outland, so it must be possible.

Seeing as a round-trip ticket is normally cheaper than a one-way, it can look to immigration as if you are just visiting anyways, (unless you have a lot of stuff with you that it becomes obvious you are moving over) and you can tell them your PR is in process. then you could just get your visa and stay there if you wanted! (I'm so jealous!!! Can't wait to be where you are in this process!)

Cheers,
TLH

Sponsoring of parents takes approximately 2 years from what I know, so yes it would be completely normal
