Hi

Technically I should post this question in international students category, Which I already did. Unfortunately I did not hear from anybody so I am reposting it under CEC. I am sorry for not going by the rules.

Its has been over 2 months since I applied online for the PGWP, and unfortunately I still haven't heard anything from them. The Call Centre agents said it has been transferred to a special processing unit and It has left me wondering what did I do wrong ?

I have NOT been issued a PGWP before and I DID submit all the right documents (transcript and graduation letters).

Does anybody have any idea of what's going on ? I couldn't find CIC Vegreville, Alberta's fax or email number so does anybody know if writing them a letter is going to do any good ?

Cheers

From your timeline, it looks like you are already a landed immigrant. Why are you worried about the post-grad work permit?

If you received your permanent residency after you had applied for PGWP, they might have just cancelled that application as you do not need a work permit anymore.

Also I received my PGWP after 2 months. So it might take them up to 2 to 3 months. That is the normal timeline. You are good for now I think.

NO I am not a landed immigrant. That timeline on the left represents my study permit not PR. Most people have been getting their PGWP in month or so thats why I am worried. Plus as I mentioned, call centre agent told me that my file has been transferred to a special processing unit which is adding to my worries.

None of my friends including myself got PGWP in less than 2 months. Once you apply you are in impied status so you are allowed to work till you hear from them on your off campus work permit. I think 2 months sounds like the normal time frame. It should be Ok if you submitted all required stuff- it is a pretty straight forward process. I don't know what they mean by "special processing unit". I wouldn't worry about it too much. One of my friends is also still waiting to hear from them and it has been over 2 months. So don't worry :)
