Sorry to hear about the passing. I believe he does need to provide a PCC. Following example from the instruction guide makes it clear that the days need not be consecutive.Hi folks, my husband is now applying for his citizenship. I'm not sure though if he needs a police certificate or not. During his eligibility period, he had to travel back to Trinidad twice because his mother was ill. The first trip in 2014 was 17 days. The second trip in 2015 was longer as she got progressively worse and unfortunately ended up passing away so he stayed to settle her affairs. This trip was 171 days so combined that equals 188 days. 5 days over the 183. Although he was not residing there per se. I looked at the examples on the CIC website and it is still not clear to me.
Anyone know definitively? Thank you for any assistance.
Chances are 50/50% but my guess is he will need police certificate from trinidad. Call CIC to verify.Hi folks, my husband is now applying for his citizenship. Thank you for your reply razerblade, I think you are right. I guess I was hopeful that it would not be needed.......Sorry to hear about the passing. I believe he does need to provide a PCC. Following example from the instruction guide makes it clear that the days need not be consecutive.
Example 2
In the past 4 years, you took 10 trips to the United States of America (USA). Each trip lasted 3 weeks, for a total of 210 days. You would answer “Yes” to the question and you would need to provide a police certificate from the USA.
Thanks for you reply as well NewUser2018. I was hoping it would not be needed. I think I need to send it with the application though......I did not think you could submit the application and they would start processing without it.Chances are 50/50% but my guess is he will need police certificate from trinidad. I would get police certificate while app is on process anyway, they will check CBSA Database.
You will definitely need it, but a friend of mine did not send it with the application, but was informed during the interview that she had to provide them with a police record from Turkey. She did that and got her oath invitation shortly after. Office was Vancouver. Thanks for you reply as well NewUser2018. I was hoping it would not be needed. Thanks for your reply Stef. I have called my MP's office (to double check, they are usually helpful) as well as the Trinidad Consulate located here to figure out the turnaround time for requesting the police certificate. Even if we were in Trinidad it can take 6-8 weeks. Glad to hear of your friend's success! You will definitely need it, but a friend of mine did not send it with the application, but was informed during the interview that she had to provide them with a police record from Turkey. You might want to send the application out and attaching a letter explaining that you will supply them with the police certificate once you have it.Thanks for your reply Stef.
