Maybe I'm missing something here - once you complete your landing, aren't you now a permanent resident of Canada? And permanent residents don't need a visa to enter the US, correct? Am I misunderstanding something?

well even u r PR OF CANADA u cant go without visa
only CITIZEN OF CANADA (canadian passport holder only)allow without visa.

Yes you are missing a whole lot. Your statement is true after you get citizenship of Canada and not after PR.
You are not reading on rules and asking on it.

No issues buddy .
If US entry is easy then all immigrants to Canada would be targeting US just after PR.
FYI - Another point to add - Even for GC in US they have cap based on birth country not based on citizenship one acquired after birth. So they made it more complicated.
Anyway, let me not write more on this as it will side track this thread.

actually if you show ties in Canada, getting a US visitor visa is much easier (except for some countries they hate). All they are worrying is that you are not leaving USA after they let you in.

Not me. I used to live in the USA, and chose to move to Canada. No intentions of leaving Canada for the US.

My passport got to Ottawa on Feb 2nd. No tracker activated yet. Do you guys know how long its going to take to get it back? Also, online status shows DM. Is it supposed to change to something else?

Mine was sent on the 27/01/2016, it was activated last weekend end i got my PP and CoPR yesterday. I quickly went to the border and landed the same day.
