Hi everyone! I have a question, I became a permanent resident on November 2021, lived in Toronto for 8 months and then moved abroad. I now volunteer for a Canandian (Quebec) non profit , but I'm based in latin america. I know the "physical present" in Canada for 730 doesn't count if you work for a Canadian business or organization, or the Canadian federal, provincial or territorial government https://ircc.canada.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1466 . But since I don't actually work, I signed a volunteer contract for 1 year (full time volunteer, 35 hours a week), I want to know if my time abroad counts towards my 730 days as if I were legally working here.
Thanks in advance!

Highly unlikely this will count, even if you were paid. Usually you must have worked for the same Canadian organisation in Canada, and then been sent abroad for this assignment temporarily. This does not appear to be the case for you. You should not rely on credit towards the RO from this gig.

Here is a good summary. Quoting from the text:
"The ability to maintain permanent residency while working for a Canadian business abroad is probably the most complicated way to satisfy the residency requirement."

It will not. You are not employed.
