permanent resident abroad

I have lived abroad with my Canadian spouse and I am a permanent resident now it will be expired soon so I hired someone to renew it for me, my question is,

1. do I need to be in Canada to actually renew it ?

2. do i need to show documents what am i doing abroad ??

3. Do i need to do ANYTHING beside just meet the residency obligation?

1. You are supposed to be physically in Canada to submit an app to renew your PR card.

2. You will just need to show proof you've been living together with your Canadian citizen spouse all this time.

3. Keep in mind also there's a good chance CIC will ask you to pick up your new PR card in person. If you are outside Canada at this time with old expired card, you may need to get a PR Travel Doc to come back to Canada, or prepare to enter Canada via USA land border.

According to the rules, no - you are supposed to be physically in Canada to renew.

You can apply for a permanent resident card (PR card) if you:
have permanent resident status,
are in Canada,
have not been asked by the Government of Canada to leave the country, and
are not a Canadian citizen.
