Hello all,

I would like to know if my wife is in Canada with me on a tourist visa, going threw the "outland" residency application,
if she can get her medical exam done "inside" Canada??? If so what is the procedure? what forms do I use?

Thank you in advance for any responses made towards this topic. :)

Yes - she can do her medical in Canada if she is applying outland. Many of us have done this and it's often cheaper. The form she needs to bring with her when she goes to see the DMP is in the Region Specific Guide. Hope this helps.

Hello Scylla,

Thank you so much for your response and insightful question.
I would like to know if getting your medical exam done in Canada with
the outland application delays the process vs. doing your medical exam
from the country where the applicant is from.

Do you mean the Region Specific Guide from the outland application package?

If you go to this page, the Region Specific forms are located at the bottom. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/famcls.asp

I also had my medical done while I was in Canada with my husband "visiting". It cost about $300 where we went. It doesn't make any difference in your processing time. It's often Much easier to find a medical practicioner approved by CIC in Canada than it is outside of Canada.

I had mine done in Vancouver for $150 plus I think $40 for the chest xray. I had mine done over a month before we even sent the application. (I was waiting for that darned FBI paper to send everything). You just include the paper the DMP gives you.

Hello Quakingaspen,

Thank you so much for the link that you have provided.
I will consider getting my wife's medical exam done in Canada.
I am just happy to know that I have an option just in case. :)

Hello 88mv,

Thank you for sharing your similar situation. The price for the medical exam in Ecuador is very similar to what you paid in Vancouver. My spouse and I are relieved that we have an option. We are trravelling on a tourist visa in about 20 days and she is not able to get her medical exam for at least a week and a half or so. We already have our plane ticket purchased, hotel reserved etc and it was a big scare not knowing if we would have to cancel our flight just to get a medical exam done.
Anyway, we are really grateful to you all for such kind and insightful responses. :D

No - this won't create any delays.

I am American (husband Canadian.) I had my medicals done in Calgary for me and my daughter, which was no problem at all, rather then doing them back "home". When your looking for your DMP, call around to all those in driving distance. One might have a waiting list of 3 months or longer, another may get you in in 2 weeks. At least, in Alberta, that was my experience. We ended up driving 2.5 hours to Calgary rather then getting it done "locally" because I got in almost right away instead of having to wait 5 months in my closest city.

If anyone needs the name of a decent DMP in Alberta who really did well by us (and my daughter can be a challenge), I'd be happy to forward her contact info.

I had my medical done in Canada. I gave them the completed main form but not Appendix C and the doctor retained this. Do I then need to send in Appendix C with the rest of my application or....?.

Do not worry! The doctor keeps the appendix C as reference for his/her file. What is important is to send the reciept which they give to you on the day which you perform your medical exam.

Ok, so I should just take Appendix C along to the doctor?, (I had my medical done a few weeks ago).

Thanks.

I do not think that you have to bring the Appendix C to the doctor. I would call the doctor who did the medical exam for you to make sure. Did the doctor give you a receipt and tell you to include it along with your residency application package?
