I was not successful in making it within the cap in 2011. preparing to apply in 2012. Some shared in 2011 forum that application process for PR may change. and one key change may be that application are to be submitted online.

Anyone has any news/insight on this?

does anyone know of any other possible changes?

can we share our thoughts/experiences in this forum to help each other :)

When will you send in your application for 2012? Also if u donot mind sharing can i ask which profession are you from?

I have just a part time experience as Records Management Specialist, but have other jobs in hand..basically i am from human resource background...

You want the application to arrive at the visa office as close to the first business day of July as possible. This year I believe the cap was reached in about 5 business days. I think the cap will be reached even faster this year.

Good luck.

What if CIC delays announcement of new immigration rules till the end of July? How can we know what documents will be required and how will the points be calculated with new rules?

in my experience (3 tries) getting the application as early as possible is the way to go. last year cap was filled within 5 working days. I would not wait for any further announcement as by the time it comes the cap would already be filled.

good luck to you all.

Yes, reaching before the CAP is hard. So I guess we can prepare our application very smart, including high score Ielts with it just in case CIC reduces points for work experience and age (for those above 35). In that case, Ielts can reduce the lack of points.
Besides, we can send our credentials assesment with application even if it's not required yet, so in case CIC announces it on July 1st, we will not worry, as our application will be on it's way to Sydney already and it will be completed ;)
What do you think, a good idea right?

Damn IELTS ! lol

I have no relatives so no points. No spouce relatives = no points. no arranged employment = no points.
Just my experience, education and IELTS ( aggrrrrrr IETLS ) barely I can collect the minimum 67 point.

I am going against the people of the earth ! hahahaha. Unbeleivable isn't it. I have PhD, 8 years job experience and IELTS about 8 and I can barely make 70 points.NO french haha.

What do they want ? Nobel Prize winners ?

Ok I want to ask something serious now, I worked in a major bottling (beverage) company as area manager for more than 4 years. The occupation was about planning, making deals with stores selling beverages, checking their stock, submiting reports for profit and loss plus some advertising ideas and marketing tools.
So what is my NOC ? and is it under the Business to Management Category ? Am I type 0 or A and B class ?
I would say it has more to do with SALES and merchandising !

Thank you guys. This will enlighten my situation here.

i would say say go ahead and apply. your PHD may be a huge plus. Canada has a record of the most number of highly educated people. they are keen to attract the cream of people.

as far as what category to apply in - it looks like NOC1122 is your fit but please refer job descriptions in CIC websites and make an assessment for yourself as i may be wrong.

good luck on the application.few more days to go.

If you want to go to Alberta, it is advisable to send your documents to IQAS, as occupations under NOC 1122 are regulated there. In other provinces, they are not regulated, so it means that no further certification is required. Maybe from July 01 2012 it will be regulated elsewhere, who knows??

Here is the list of credential assessment institutions.

Credential Evaluation, Assessment and Qualification Recognition Services

All agencies and organizations listed below adhere to the General Guiding Principles for Good Practice in the Assessment of Foreign Credentials and the Recommendation on Criteria and Procedures for the Assessment of Foreign Qualifications adopted under the 1997 Lisbon Recognition Convention.

Note that their assessments are not necessarily appropriate or applicable to all situations.

If you are planning to study in Canada, consult our Fact Sheet #1 "Information for students educated abroad applying for admission to Canadian universities and colleges" at http://www.cicic.ca/392/admission-to-universities-and-colleges.canada.

If you intend to work in a regulated occupation, you will first need to contact the pertinent regulatory body (see our occupational profiles at http://www.cicic.ca/403/occupational-profiles-for-selected-trades-and-professions.canada) for detailed instructions on the procedure to follow (Note: even if you are already licensed to practice a regulated occupation in Canada, employers may request that you provide them with a formal assessment of your academic credentials; if that is the case, please contact one of the services listed below).

If you are not sure how you should proceed, contact us. We will assist you.
