Hey All, we now seriously need some help. Today (Tuesday) my wife received her passport with the stamped visa and other papers. The visa expiry was as expected, second week of August. On the paper with instructions, it says "You must inform us of any significant change in your health or physical fitness BEFORE you leave for Canada"

Does someone know what does "significant change" mean? My wife had a small surgery, due to an injury. Nothing life threatening, permanent or severely damaging. Definitely not a communicable disease. Though the signs of the surgery are visible (she has to wear a cast for few months). Can this be a problem when she lands in Canada? Should we inform the CIC about it, which might lead to unknown delays?

We are really anxious about this and would highly appreciate any help or any pointers to CIC laws/clarification regarding "significant change in health".

Thanks a lot in advance.
you don't have to inform CIC....but get a letter from a doctor saying ' it is insignificant and won't affect anyone' so that you can show it to immigration officials in case they ask (they won't but to be prepared is better than facing dramas). I am more scared of all the sneezers, coughers and flu spreaders on the plane (they should be banned from traveling) than people who have undergone surgery..

it just depends on your next bring forward date, actually immigration officer open a file issue additional request and put a next BFD and in the meantime we send them additional docs but they open the file again only on that BFD, so be patient, you will see IP very soon
btw could you share how you received the request, email or letter

Hello

First of all congrats for DM, You really went through a long wait process, Usually it takes about 7-11 days from the date they mail it out and also depending on your location.

So its not necessary that the mailed out ur passport on the same day as DM. sometimes they send it after 3-4 days ... So I would suggest wait for a week....

Have a great married life
@abhishekgoel007

Thanks!!!
Ya, its a 2nd week for us waiting for the passport. I hope and praying that they will send us passport within this week. It was a very looooong process..

TB and AIDS are the only two significant changes they worried about . Medical test we submit at time of application has the same purpose . Book your flight and then start new life in canada . It's common sense man , surgeries are not contagious .

Thanks W2E. That's actually a great suggestion. We will get her that letter and hopefully there shall be no drama!

At both Toronto and Vancouver airport they have Hindi , punjabi speaking CBSA support staff for help . Hop on your flight and when you land ,they will help you fill required forms

Thanks sunsweet. We have discussed this with the doctor, and it looks like she can travel by the time her visa expires. She just needs to take proper care. I might be travelling to India to get her or I may get her to travel first/business class with wheelchair assistance. The worry is now about the declaration and potential issues during landing.

Thanks JJ. I also thought so, but got worried after I saw the letter and instructions that came along with the passport.

It's common , they take about extra 8-10 weeks time if they request additional documents
